Protests against Rep. Peter King's hearings on homegrown Jihadists.

Al Sharpton is continuing his lifelong campaign to discredit the civil rights movement. On “Fox & Friends” this morning Sharpton attacked the planned congressional hearings into Muslim extremism and the lack of cooperation by Muslim organizations in combatting the terrorist threat.

The NY Times Sunday magazine has a cover story this week designed to create sympathy for an American terrorist named Lori Berenson. If you gave me an hour I could find ten similar Times stories about Americans who are at war with their country or in bed with terrorists. If you gave me longer I could make a book of them. Why are so-called progressives eager to identify with America’s enemies and with the practitioners of political violence if it is violence of the left?  More to the point, why are progressives so sensitive about having their patriotism questioned when they think that love for totalitarians and hatred for America is “idealistic” as the Times article explicitly does? What could be more hateful than the murderers and thieves Lori Berenson called her political friends? Or other American radicals, Michael Moore or Billy Ayers, for example, called theirs? I called Brigitte and she explained that her 501 chapters have autonomy and can act independently. She has told the chapter responsible for this campaign to cease and desist, and to remove the petition from their website. I am greatly relieved to have spoken to Brigitte and would have done so first except that I was alerted to this matter by an unusually fair-minded leftist who was preparing to attack me as result of the interview Frontpage did with the chapter head responsible for the petition (we have removed the interview as well so as not to perpetuate confusion).
