“When We Hated Mom” Mother’s Day at the New York Times

2011 May 9

It’s been several years since Bill O’Reilly began emphasizing the significance of America’s culture war — the one between traditionalists who think America is pretty great and “S-Ps,” or secular-progressives, who have a deep hostility to America and want to change it completely. The culture war is as alive today as when O’Reilly began stressing it, but what he and others fail to hone in on is that the war is driven primarily by women. It is women, specifically, who have thrown a dagger in the one institution that affects the rest: the American family.

That the mainstream media is a left-wing operation consisting of “S-Ps” is scarcely debatable, but it’s the women in the media — the feminist elite — who have the real power. The female professors, lawyers, journalists, writers, judges, actresses, and psychologists we hear from daily are quintessential “S-Ps.” Their primary target is the American family – and the MSM is their bully pulpit.

So it wasn’t surprising that the New York Times would take a perfectly glorious day, Mother’s Day, and publish an op-ed by professor Stephanie Coontz entitled “When We Hated Mom.” Its message is the same tired message women on the left have been making for decades: the 1950s American housewife needed rescuing from her sad lot in life – and feminists were their saviors. Those who argue otherwise – namely, me – are dismissed as clueless.

‘One of the most enduring myths about feminism,’ writes Coontz, ‘is that 50 years ago women who stayed home full time with their children enjoyed higher social status and more satisfying lives than they do today. That myth – repeated in Suzanne Venker and Phyllis Schlafly’s new book, The Flipside of Feminism – reflects a misreading of American history.

Teenage Runaways, Drug Addicts and Single Moms- The New All American “Progressive” Family

2011 May 1

This popular post was first published here on April 29, 2011.

According to a new study by the Centre for Social Justice, almost half of all children in the United Kingdom will see their married or cohabitating parents split up by the time they’re sixteen. Never before in Great Britain’s history has the breakdown of the family been so palpable.

Here in the United States things aren’t much different. According to a new report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, one in four children in the United States is being raised by a single parent. The main reason for the high U.S. figure, say the experts, is the growing acceptance of single-parent child rearing.

The question is, should there be such widespread acceptance of single-parent child rearing?

People struggle with this question for an obvious reason: just about everyone knows at least one person, if not ten, who is either a product of a single-parent household or is a single parent. Thus, Americans are reluctant to say anything disparaging about single parents. Indeed, the desire not to offend has become an epidemic in this country. When Ann Coulter pointed out in 2009 that 70% of prison inmates come from single-parent families, as do 70% of teenage runaways and drug addicts, she was accused of being insensitive. But in order to solve a problem of this magnitude, we’re going to have to step on some toes. read more…

Allen West is Right: Leftist Women Castrate Our Men

2011 April 30

This popular post was first published here on April 26, 2011.

Are liberal women responsible for neutering men, as Rep. Allen West told a group of Tea Partiers in Boca Raton, FL last week? In a word, yes.

Here’s the statement West made to a group of conservative women that has people on the left riled up:

We need you to come in and lock shields, and strengthen up the men who are going to the fight for you. To let these other women know on the other side — these planned Parenthood women, the Code Pink women, and all of these women that have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness — to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient. That’s what we need you to do. Because if you don’t, then the debt will continue to grow…deficits will continue to grow.

I’m sure West’s use of the word “subservient” was like nails on a chalkboard to the left. After all, servitude is the very thing they pride themselves on having saved women from. The notion that men are in any way subservient is laughable to this group — they think men in America have it made.

Yet West is correct: American men have been demoted. They were once respected providers and protectors; today, they’re considered unnecessary, irrelevant, and downright expendable. Men do need lifting up, and conservative women are precisely the ones to do it.

The best example to date of America’s new attitude toward men is a statement actress Jennifer Aniston made in August of last year:

Women are realizing more and more that you don’t have to settle, they don’t have to fiddle with a man to have a child.

Isn’t that just Hollywood talking trash, you ask. Don’t these women live on another planet? Perhaps. But no Hollywood actress would have dared to think, much less say, such a thing forty years ago – whether she was a Republican or a Democrat. One could only feel comfortable making such a statement in a society that’s gone off the deep end.

Here’s another example.

The Real Bullies of Yale University

2011 April 23

The recent saga at Yale University — regarding a complaint to the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights by a group of female Yalies that the University “has failed to eliminate a hostile sexual environment on campus” — reminds me of the brouhaha over comments made by former Harvard University president Larry Summers.

When Summers suggested the under-representation of women in the top levels of science and engineering may be due to a “different availability of aptitude at the high end,” his feminist colleagues hammered him until he resigned – even though Summers actively sought ways to encourage more women to pursue these areas of study.

That’s how feminists operate — they’re bullies. As a result, colleges and universities (along with businesses and government) are forced to spend shocking amounts of time and money pacifying this powerful group of Americans. If allegations of a hostile sexual environment on Yale’s campus come to fruition, the University stands to lose billions of dollars in federal funding.

What are the details of the charge?

I Am Woman- Hear Me Whine: We Can Only Roar With Remedial Help

2011 April 17

This popular post was originally published April 13, 2011.

It’s true. Women in America make less money than men throughout their lifetime; they constitute a mere 17 percent of the national legislature; and according to a new report from the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co., only a handful of women has ascended to the top rung of the corporate ladder. To most Americans, these facts are neither surprising nor concerning. But to a certain powerful segment of our society, they’re a downright travesty.

What the LA Times is Afraid to Tell You About Phyllis Schlafly

2011 April 9

This hot post was first published here on April 3, 2011.

We might as well have said slavery wasn’t such a bad idea. That’s the effect my new book, The Flipside of Feminism — which I co-authored with Phyllis Schlafly — has had on left-wing women.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned these past few weeks since the book’s release, it’s that the damage left in the wake of the feminist movement – STDs, heartache, skyrocketing abortion rates, failed marriages, absentee parenting, and the emasculation of men – isn’t the worst of it.

Will The Huffington Post Media Group Become the FOX of the Left?

2011 February 9

Will Arianna Huffington become a media mogul like Roger Ailes and turn the Huffington Post into the FOX of the Left? Under the $315 million acquisition agreement with AOL, Huffington will become president and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group. She’s expected to oversee all of the editorial content.

Despite being a card-carrying member of the Left, Arianna Huffington insists America’s problems can’t be solved using “the old distinctions of right and left.”

There have been a handful of articles written about the new merger, but a comment in this article struck me as hysterical. In response to the charge that Huffington’s political views may be polarizing, technology consultant Rob Enderle says,

There’s certainly the opportunity to create a much more powerful liberal voice in the country. The fact that it hasn’t been done yet doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Now that’s priceless. Really. Anyone who thinks the left in America hasn’t had the microphone for decades is either very young or very stupid. Clearly the rise of FOX News Channel and conservative talk radio has caused much confusion among Americans.

There are essentially two schools of thought about today’s media: that it has become more fair, or that it is now dominated by the right. It is not the latter.

While it is true FOX News, talk radio, and the Internet are immensely popular with the American public, who are a right of center bunch, these outlets have not replaced the power of the left-wing media. They have merely leveled the playing field.

Some argue that if we once had a liberal media bias in America, we now have a conservative bias. This is not accurate. Conservative bias is not the opposite of liberal bias. Liberal bias exists because the overwhelming majority of Americans in power – college professors, the mainstream media, and Hollywood – are leftists who believe their worldview is the good one, the right one, the only one to have.
