Not content with making Ground Zero a symbol of Islamic triumphalism with a 13-15 story Cordoba House mosque, plans are in the works to memorialize the sacred ground of the crash site of Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA.
For a memorial, I can imagine something with park benches, maybe a reflecting pool, the names of the victims carved in shiny stone. Too mundane? Well, the Heinz Foundation–yes that Heinz–funded the design competition to come up with something that would reflect the grief and pride of Americans: A red Islamic crescent design symbolizing the features of a mosque.
Huh?
The Crescent (or Bowl) of Embrace, as it’s called, I’m guessing is so named in an effort to sound comforting. Um, it’s not working. It was, after all, militant Islamic jihadists who caused the plane to crash in the first place. So why are the main features of the memorial so closely linked to Islamic symbols? read more…
Now that Obama is sinking fast in the polls due to his abysmal performance as President, a guaranteed second term is slipping away like the bloom of youth. Solution? Change the rules in the middle of the game. Why not? It’s been done before.
The latest (but hardly new) game changer to come down the pike is to make the Electoral College obsolete. A group going by the moniker of National Popular Vote is leading the way to get states one-by-one to switch from the electoral college system and go straight to a majority rules vote in presidential elections. Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, Washington, and Maryland have already enacted the bill (is it a coincidence that all these states went for Obama?) and its passed in another 19 states.

A Massachusetts rulings finding the federal law banning gay marriage unconstitutional is just one more tier being kicked in on the institution of marriage. This particular tier is over health benefits for significant others. Nothing offensive about that, right?
When it comes to marriage, what’s all the fuss? We’ve been told for decades it’s just a piece of paper. It’s just an institution put in place by a patriarchal culture to keep women down. It’s the height of hypocrisy because of a sky high divorce rate. The Left has had an all out assault on marriage for about fifty years and now that it’s been beaten to a bloody pulp, they apparently want to remake it in their image.

The snark in me gets a kick out of this poster, but maybe there’s more than just cynicism in its message.
Thinking of the movies released this summer–Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice to name a few–share more than just a huge FX budget. Each film pivots on the destiny of one individual to affect the world for the good of mankind. It’s an effective and entertaining device in any theme, but it’s also showing up in a vast number of movies lately. It got me wondering if it’s merely filling a niche–or filling a need.
For a trashy culture that insinuates itself between parents and children—from grade school onward—the sexualization of children is just the cherry on top of the garbage sundae.
Hollywood perpetuates this idea, calling it art. This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that art to the Left is the theft of innocence. From Lolita to American Pie, so-called ‘coming-of-age’ stories and films are primarily about a child’s transformative sexual experience. And, as the Left likes to assert, life imitates art.
