I got the privilege of a one hour phone call with Daisy Khan today. Khan is the leader of ASMA (American Society for Muslim Advancement) and the now famous wife of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf. Together they are the force behind opening up a mosque and large Muslim community center near Ground Zero. What did I learn from the call? That Khan presents herself as a pluralistic Muslim, but is quite the spin master and has no plans of actually listening to anyone she disagrees with.
To be honest, I was not the only person on this phone call. I was lucky enough to be asked by the Council of Foreign Relations to join a conference call this morning to hear Khan speak briefly and take questions on “The debate over the proposed community center in downtown Manhattan.” The roster for the call listed myself with about 250 others who may or may not have been on the line. The people were a mix of journalists, professors, religious leaders, and politicians. read more…
The Left’s new spin on Sharia is that it really isn’t all that bad, and we’ll never have it here anyway. So there is nothing to fear in Ground Zero mosques and pro-Sharia Imams being funded by our government to promote Islam here and abroad. The so-called liberal argument is that Sharia is a red herring of conservative haters and to warn of Sharia makes someone an Isalamaphobe. Guess the Left doesn’t pay attention to Britain.
Long before the British invasion of the Beatles, America has long been following Britain’s lead on cultural issues. Often what happens across the pond eventually makes its way to our shores. That should be eye opening when you consider Britain has been allowing Sharia courts in urban locations all over the island the last few years. read more…
Many on the Left are on a crusade to spread Islam in the rubble of Ground Zero. They have shouted out in support for a giant mosque to be built in the spot where the towers fell. And anyone who is against the mosque or its leader, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf are clearly Islamophobists. But who exactly is Imam Rauf?
So-called liberals would have you to believe that Rauf is a moderate Muslim striving to bridge the gap between the west and Islam. He has built his career on trying to teach the west that Islam is really a good religion and the western view of Muslims is distorted. In fact, Rauf has gone so far as to say that American principles and Sharia law principles are almost one in the same. read more…
Hidden relationships are hard to keep secret. My wife and I tried to keep our dating a secret when it first started. We had lots of mutual friends, and we just didn’t want to deal with everyone knowing we were dating early on. But of course it wasn’t too long before someone caught us kissing. Relationships can never be kept a secret forever. And that is true for DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) haters and their hidden wooing of amnesty lovers.
I was honestly surprised when I read about immigration reform while I was reading a lesbian reaction to the stay on Proposition 8 being overturned in California. At the very end of an article on LezGetReal’s website my eyes were opened to a love affair between gay marriage supporters and some immigration reformers. Here’s what I read: read more…
People on the west coast are known for mixing politics with food choices. The beliefs of those who make the food tend to matter more than the quality of the food. They want it organic, local, liberal, and now some apparently want their food anti-Semitic.
Last month the Olympia Food Co-Op of Olympia, Washington decided to boycott all foods made in Israel. Why would a grocery co-op and their two grocery stores rid their stores of Jewish made products? read more…
Children Under Sharia Law, Part 2: Raped Foreign 14-Year-Old Girl Gets 6 Month Prison Sentence in UAE
One of NewReal Blog’s hottest posts this past week told the story of a 14 year old Brazilian girl being arrested after accusing a man twice her age of raping her in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. (For the full article go here.) Yesterday the young teen got her sentence from the Abu Dhabi courts: 6 months in prison and then deportation.
Apparently the 14-year-old girl had met a Pakistani school bus driver and exchanged cell phone numbers with him. They had been texting sexual messages back and forth to each other. On April 4th the adolescent female’s parents had gone on a trip to Dubai. The girl invited the man (some reports say he is 25 while others say he is 28) to her apartment where then, according to the girl, he raped her. Her parents reported the rape, but the Sharia courts response was to arrest both the man and the girl for “consensual sex.” read more…
The Ground Zero mosque debate continues to be a battleground of worldviews. The Left has made it clear that the problem is not Islamists, but what they deem ‘Islamaphobia’. Somehow the dangers of fearing radical Islam and Sharia law is worse than the violence and terror that comes from those things.
The LA Times has now put their two cents in by not only condemning conservative voices but going so far as to lie about the dangers of Sharia.
Doyle McManus of the LA Times wrote a careless article yesterday boldly titled “A Mosque Near Grand Zero: It’s the Wise Choice.“ His subtitle gives his ill-conceived argument: read more…
Hot Post:Children Under Sharia Law Part 1: Foreign Girl Raped in UAE Could Face 80 lashes or stoning.
Sharia law has become a very popular discussion in media and academic circles. Somehow many journalists are trying to ignore any problems with Sharia and look to only focus on what they label “Islamophobia.” This past few days there have been countless stories on people wanting to burn the Koran and the Washington Post even called “the fear of Islam” the new McCarthyism and inferred that Sharia law is a false threat. The stories make you wonder: what’s so bad about Sharia anyway?
Let me offer a recent example of the terror of Sharia law. I’m sure you have not heard about it, because I’ve only been able to find two new agencies (both English language papers out of UAE) that have covered the incident (Gulf News and The National). read more…
