Michael van der Galien

Michael van der Galien was born in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in 1984. For as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with the United States. When he was 17 years old, he started blogging - of course about America. His articles have been published at Big Hollywood, Pajamas Media, Hot Air (the GreenRoom) and Right Across The Atlantic. He's also an editor for the Dutch conservative blog, De Dagelijkse Standaard.

Taking On The Left, Six List Posts At A Time

2011 February 6

A lot happened in the world last week. The protests in Egypt continued, at least partially fired by the radical Muslim Brotherhood. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak told the opposition he would not run for reelection later this year. He had, he said, served his country long enough, the time has come for someone else to take over.

Apparently that was not enough for the Brotherhood. These friends of Hamas want Mubarak to go – now. After all, if you want to turn a country into a theocracy, there’s no better time to seize power than in the middle of a major crisis, when there is nobody else able to bring stability and some form of security. read more…

And if you’re more of an impulsive reader, come back Monday through Saturday when we rerun one of the list posts a day.

So here are today’s list posts… read more…

Six Bullets Going Straight at Progressivism’s Heart

2011 January 23

One of the reasons I love being in the news and opinion business is that there’s always something going on. There’s not a day that goes by without some important news. There’s always something happening in the world, and we serve as your eyes and ears. Every single day is filled with adrenaline; there’s always some front on which we, conservatives have to defend ourselves against progressives, and there’s always another front where we’re forcing them to play defense.

On the other hand, one of the main reasons I hate doing what I do is that, well, there’s always something going on. We live in an overhyped world. A day without a hype is a day not lived. Or that’s at least what the mainstream media would like us to believe. Many of these hypes don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. We talk about them today as if they’re vital, but have forgotten all about them tomorrow. read more…

You Ask, We Serve: Our 6 List Posts Published Today

2011 January 16

In little to no time, our list posts have become the most popular and well read articles at NewsReal Blog. When we first started featuring them, we hoped our readers would enjoy them, but we did not expect the tremendous success they’ve had. Many of them are read by tens of thousands of individuals and when we receive (positive) feedback, you can bank on it it’s about a list published that day.

In order to make our list posts even better we’ve decided to select a group of authors to, week in, week out, write list posts, and to put someone (yours truly) at the helm of this team, whose main responsibility lies in assisting these ‘list posters’ to help them deliver even better, more appealing products. From today onwards we will also run a post Sundays introducing the new list posts; that post – of which this is the first one – can function as the place to go to find the list posts and read them. read more…

Frank Rich desperately tries to explain Obama

2010 December 6

Frank Rich is thrashing around for an answer – a way to explain Barack Obama’s presidency to this point.  His latest excuse for the presidency’s inadequacies and incompetence is  …. the Stockholm syndrome.

THOSE desperate to decipher the baffling Obama presidency could do worse than consult an article titled “Understanding Stockholm Syndrome” in the online archive of The F.B.I. Law Enforcement Bulletin. It explains that hostage takers are most successful at winning a victim’s loyalty if they temper their brutality with a bogus show of kindness. Soon enough, the hostage will start concentrating on his captors’ “good side” and develop psychological characteristics to please them — “dependency; lack of initiative; and an inability to act, decide or think.”

Wikileaks Helps Terrorists, Publishes List Of Potential Targets Washington Considers “Vital” to Its Interests

2010 December 6

Wikileaks is at it again: as if they didn’t do enough damage to America’s reputation and influence already by publishing hundreds of secret diplomatic cables with sensitive information and assessments, they’ve now gone ahead and published a list of potential terrorist targets overseas that Washington considers vital to its interests.

The list was the result of a February 2009 order from Washington for officials to compile a list of international assets critical for the United States… read more…

BREAKING NEWS: Interpol puts WikiLeaks Founder Assange on Most-Wanted List

2010 December 1

Just in: Interpol has put WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on its most-wanted listed. The official reason is that Sweden asked Interpol to put a “red notice” on the radical leftist and enemy of the United States because he’s suspected of raping a Swedish citizen. read more…

MEP Nigel Farage Takes on Anti-Democratic European Union

2010 November 30

Nigel Farage is quickly becoming the most famous anti-EU politician in Europe. Although he’s a member of the European Parliament, Farage is one of a few Old Continent politicians willing to take on the anti-democratic, socialist beast called the European Union. Watch Farage in action:

We desperately need more politicians like Farage in Europe: the EU is highly unpopular, yet our politicians continue to strive for a unified and socialist Union. They’re as out as touch as can be; thank God for Farage, a man who understands Europeans better than those who call themselves ‘pro-Europe.’

Fools at Huffington Post Lament the Death of the George Soros Funded Washington Independent

2010 November 22

The George Soros founded website the Washington Independent will cease to exist, come December 1. The reason is, according to the obscure website’s admirers at the Huffington Post, the worldwide economic crisis.

Pajamas Media‘s Bryan Preston knows better, however. The Windy isn’t going down because the American economy is still sagging – despite all the fantastic and expensive ‘stimulus’ bills passed by Nancy Pelosi’s Congress and Barack Obama’s White House – but because nobody’s reading it.

The Washington Independent pretended to be all about high quality journalism, while it was, in fact, nothing more than a home on the Internet for radical leftists. Its sole purpose was to smear conservatives and to support Democrats’ collectivist agenda. The problem, its founders soon found out? Such drivel simply isn’t very popular. read more…

Beck Explains What You Can Do Against The Left’s Attack On The American Idea

2010 November 17

On his Fox News show, Glenn Beck explained yesterday what you can do to combat the trouble awaiting us (or so he believes, at least). Watch the video, Beck’s right that “the American idea is being wiped out” and that who believe in this idea have to defend it – now more than ever.
