Even in these economically challenging times, super-wealthy leftist donors continue to build political infrastructure that they hope will survive and prosper in the future.
Research shows that art collector and retired plastics executive Stefan T. Edlis (pictured at right in above photo with his wife Gael Neeson) is a member of the ultra-secretive Democracy Alliance, a George Soros-led left-wing billionaires’ club that wants to turn America into socialist Europe.
Edlis’s foundation, Edlis-Neeson Foundation NFP, funneled $200,000 to the Democracy Alliance via the Tides Foundation in 2008, according to the foundation’s 2008 tax return. (See page 16 of the return available here.) read more…
A critic says Brown University’s speaking invitation to disgraced ACORN founder Wade Rathke is a terrible idea, the Providence Journal reports.
“Once again, Brown is living up to its reputation as an isolated outpost of left-wing political activism, no matter how deplorable and scandalous,” said Stephen Beale, president of the nonprofit Foundation for Intellectual Diversity, a Brown alumni organization.

Three cheers for Canada’s government-run healthcare system!
“Free” and accessible by all!
Oh wait. What’s that? Lard tunderin’ Jeezus, me buys!
Danny Williams, the premier of Newfoundland, has so much confidence in his country’s compassionate, socially just healthcare system he’s come to the U.S. for heart surgery.

Marxist historian Howard Zinn, who wrote a revisionist history of the U.S. popular with academics, is dead at age 87.
Zinn’s book, A People’s History of the United States, was recently turned into a small-screen documentary called “The People Speak.”
Senators who won’t pass ObamaCare are “terrorists,” the leader of America’s most powerful labor union said yesterday as Senate Democrats’ supermajority death watch entered its second week.
Democrats’ soon-to-evaporate filibuster-proof supermajority of 60 in the Senate was “a gift from the American people” that has been “squandered” by failing to enact so-called healthcare reform, said Service Employees International Union president Andrew Stern. Stern is President Obama’s closest ally in the labor movement and his union would benefit disproportionately from the enactment of Big Government healthcare. He practically lives in the White House, according to official visitor logs, but refuses to register as a lobbyist.
The Democratic membership in the Senate will be reduced to 59 whenever Sen.-elect Scott Brown (R-Mass). is finally sworn in and takes over the seat long held by the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) — a development many say dooms liberal plans to nationalize the nation’s healthcare sector. Brown’s once unimaginable election in the Bay State last week has sent shockwaves through the political establishment that continue to reverberate.
Employing tortured logic, Stern and other prominent leftists believe Brown’s defeat of Democrat Martha Coakley, who at one point led her GOP opponent by 30 percentage points in the polls, occurred only because Democrats hadn’t tacked far enough to port.
In her purple business suit, SEIU secretary-treasurer Anna Burger weighed in. “Everybody was shaken by Massachusetts but the reality is Massachusetts didn’t vote against healthcare; they already had healthcare.” [...]

It’s apparent the George Soros steno pool known as Media Matters for America really didn’t like Glenn Beck’s TV documentary, “The Revolutionary Holocaust.” (full documentary video, transcript)
Simon Maloy, who wrote the Media Matters rebuttal to the film, said it’s “insidious in its nature and vile in its character.” He continued read more…
Left-wing academics are snickering at Glenn Beck’s Friday documentary, “The Revolutionary Holocaust.”
Too many Americans admire leftist totalitarian mass murderers and too many Americans don’t know about the horrors these merciless killers have inflicted on humanity, Glenn Beck argued in his TV documentary aired today, “The Revolutionary Holocaust.”
This tolerance of brutal leftist monsters allows today’s progressives, whose ideas have the same intellectual pedigree as communism and fascism, to get away with murder, so to speak. In other words, this permissive environment allows left-wingers to openly flaunt their admiration of brutal mass murderers such as Che Guevara and Mao Zedong without getting called on it. This failure to challenge these ugly misanthropic ideas in a sense confers a degree of respectability on leftism in general.
Beck summed up the thrust of the film while previewing it yesterday:
Progressives knew a hundred years ago you can’t win a battle against our Founding Fathers. Progressives had to change the course of history by changing history itself. If you can convince people that killers are cool and get them to wear a tee shirt you’ll win their hearts and minds. People in this country have done more than buy a cool tee shirt. Many Americans have drunk the Kool Aid.
He added, “The dirty little secret that communists, Marxists, and progressives don’t want you to know is their system has never ever worked. And not only has it never worked, it has led to some of the most horrifying outcomes in history.” read more…
