Out: Camp fires and swimming. In: groupthink! Yes, now femisogynists are weaseling their way into the realm of summer camps:
Lots of kids go to summer camp to roast hot dogs and learn how to canoe. Others go to get really good at tennis or to immerse themselves in musical theater. And now, you can go to camp to learn how to be a feminist.
A camp. To learn how to be a feminist. I know, I thought the same thing — who on earth would want to be a feminist, much less attend a camp rife with them? Turns out, it’s the kind of people who actually choose to label themselves and who take some sort of strange pride in being a part of an irrelevant and self-diminishing groupthink. read more…
As we all enjoy our Independence Day parades and fireworks shows (or fireworks in your own backyard here in South Carolina), please remember the men and women willing to sacrifice their own lives for our continued freedom. The video below should serve to remind us of those who fight for peace, who sacrifice, unselfishly, and who often give up their lives or limbs or mental health so we can enjoy living in freedom.
It is an Independence Day tribute called “This Is For The Soldiers” from the amazing then 15 year old Lizzie Palmer, creator of the “Remember Me” video.
I am quite literally blubbering like an infant after watching the video (and re-watching Remember Me) at the thought of the brave souls in our armed forces, the greatest force for good that the world has ever known. Young adults, giving up everything, including their very lives, for countless unknown strangers. I can never repay all that these brave men and women have given me and the country that I love. read more…
So, I started doing a weekly podcast with Caleb Howe of RedState called The Needle. If politics were drugs, this show would be the needle!
Episode 2 aired today and we cover topics discussed here at NewsReal, particularly in The Feminist Hawk’s Nest:
Wherein Lori Ziganto and Caleb Howe make their triumphant return for episode two! In part one Lori & Caleb discuss boobies, funbags, and the feminist movement. They then tackle the issue of Kagan’s views on abortion, Scalia’s recent comments, criticism of Robert Byrd’s KKK association, and Gore’s crazy sex story.

You’ve come a long way, baby. But make sure you keep babies off my “fun bags.” Or so says Kathryn Blundell, editor at the parenting magazine, Mother & Baby.
Under the headline “I formula fed. So what?”, Kathryn Blundell says in this month’s Mother & Baby that she bottlefed her child from birth because “I wanted my body back. (And some wine)… I also wanted to give my boobs at least a chance to stay on my chest rather than dangling around my stomach.”
She goes on to say: “They’re part of my sexuality, too – not just breasts, but fun bags. And when you have that attitude (and I admit I made no attempt to change it), seeing your teeny, tiny, innocent baby latching on where only a lover has been before feels, well, a little creepy.” read more…
Earlier this week, a group called Queers Against Israeli Apartheid boasted that the Pride Toronto organizers had voted to reverse a decision which would now let them march in the Gay Pride parade. They proudly touted it as a blow against censorship and then issued this statement:
“This is a victory for the Palestine solidarity movement, which has faced censorship and bullying tactics from the Israel lobby for far too long,” says Tim McCaskell, a member of Queers Against Israeli Apartheid. “The Israel lobby learned a tough lesson today about our community’s proud history of standing up to censorship and human rights abuses.”
Proud history of standing up to censorship and human rights abuses? Yeah, you know who actually does do that? Israel. Do you know who would want to punish you, by death, for being gay? Palestine. read more…
The Anchoress, over at First Things, is one of my favorite bloggers. She has a way of cutting right to the chase, yet in a thoughtful and intelligent manner. Her recent post, in response to an article in The New York Times, is a perfect example of why she is one of my must reads.
The article details the views of “experts” who now say that children should be discouraged from having best friends. That’s right. Best Friends Forever, otherwise known as BFFs, are now bad. I wonder if these so-called experts have any friends of their own, or if they’ve chased them all away with their pious “enlightened” mentality. That, or their super annoying sanctimony. read more…
I generally ignore the irrelevant bint known as Miss Gloria Steinem, but Katie Couric interviewed her on Tuesday and thrust her back into the mock-worthy spotlight. Plus, I’m sick fed up with her and “feminists” like her. The emergence of conservative women to the forefront recently has made them particularly unbearable, as they strive to, in every repugnant way possible, diminish said women. This is just the latest from one of them, Miss Gloria Steinem, who unfortunately resurfaced from whatever Birkenstock-clad, soy latte drinking ivory tower she was hiding in: read more…
Yesterday, I spoke with Teri Christoph, Kat McKinley and Molly Teichman on their show, Smart Girl Nation. We discussed the work that we do here at The Feminist Hawk’s Nest. We also talked about why modern day feminists aren’t actually feminists, but are femisogynists. It truly was a blast talking with them; I love these broads! I also love that they totally won’t mind being called broads. Or dames, which I often prefer. It sounds fancier.
This week the girls talk to Lori Ziganto of Red State about feminism and also welcome Alejandro Garcia, press secretary for Governor Rick Perry of Texas about hispanic outreach and how we can do more.
After taking a quick rest from breaking up Al Gore’s marriage and from magically tricking President Obama into being an utterly incompetent failure, President Bush is now nefariously insinuating his way onto Facebook and Youtube. He recently released a video on the popular video sharing website, discussing his delving onto the Facebook scene and a little summary of what he’s been up to since leaving office. Besides the manufacturing of hurricanes and arranging for oil spills and such, that is. read more…
