Stupak and Lessons Learned: Democrats Lie. Chronically

2010 March 21

The second lesson that should be learned is that there is no such thing as a Pro-Life Democrat. Partisanship and agendas over-ride all for them. Thus, it should come as no surprise that Bart Stupak sold out for an Executive Order;  a piece of paper that holds absolutely no merit, particularly when coming from arguably the most pro-abortion President that we’ve ever had.

It’s no surprise because Bart Stupak is Pro-Life only if you consider Pro-Life to mean Pro-Political Life, where one does whatever is politically expedient. Bart Stupak’s “hold-out” was pure kabuki theater. He’s not Pro-Life. He’s not a “Conservative Democrat”. There is no such thing. They are ideologically partisan to their very core. Everything is agenda driven and they will even stoop to using the unborn as an agenda and to their advantage, as they have for years.

And then throw them under the figurative bus when they’ve served their political purpose.

Bart Stupak had no intention of voting No on the socialized medicine disguised as health care “reform” bill. Here he is, caught on tape, admitting that federal funding of abortion is actually no big whoop to him in the grand scheme (operative word) of things: read more…

Most Awesome Billboard: Obama Worse Than Carter

2010 March 20

Poor Jimmy Carter, bless his bitter, old, anti-semitic heart. President Barack Obama has totally stolen his thunder. First, Obama had to horn in on Carter’s “I received a completely unwarranted Nobel Peace Prize” mantle. Now, this! What does Carter have left now? A few rancid cases of Billy Beer?

From Story Balloon:

It looks like we have another winning billboard making fun of the current administration.

This time they an ad to point out how people have compared Obama to Carter’s horrible presidency.

The billboard reads: They Can’t Call Me The Worst President Anymore!

Obama might be a tad confused. The sign was put up by an organization of small business owners. Having never worked in the private sector, it’s quite clear that Obama does not even realize that small business owners, you know, exist. All he knows is government work and he even stinks at that. That’s two Teachable Moments in one!

This isn’t the first billboard that has popped up recently. read more…

Democrat Memo Reveals: Lies, More Lies and Damnable Lies

2010 March 19

By Lori Ziganto at Right Wing News

A Democrat memo reveals that the Democrats are intentionally misleading the public on the CBO analysis of Obamacare. While we knew this, this is proof that they know it and are purposefully lying.

RedState has the memo, scanned into pdf format. You can find it here. Key excerpt (emphasis by Ed Morrissey at Hot Air)

The inclusion of a full SGR repeal would undermine the reform’s budget neutrality. So, again, do not allow yourself (or your boss) to get into a discussion of the details of CBO scores and textual narrative. Instead, focus only on the deficit reduction and number of Americans covered.

Ramming legislation through, against the Will of the People is horrific enough. And now we have proof that they know it is all based on lies. Because, it was never about health care nor the good of the people, was it?

It’s about ideology and government control.

Senator Tom Coburn Kicks You Know What

2010 March 18

By Lori Ziganto at iowntheworld

I’ll say he kicks “arse” so as to make it fancy pants, as befitting one who is made totally of awesome.

Switch your vote in exchange for some cushy appointment, as is the Chicago Way? Guess again. The Oklahoma Way will stop you.

“I want to send a couple messages to my colleagues in the House. If you voted no and you vote yes and you lose your election, and you think any nomination to a federal position isn’t going to held in the Senate, I’ve got news for you,” Coburn, a physician whose been among the Senate’s most vocal opponents of the bill, said. “It’s going to be held.”

*fanning self*

“If you think you can cut a deal now and it not come out until after the election, I want to tell you that isn’t going to happen and be prepared to defend selling your vote in the House,” warned Coburn.

*Swoon*

It’s heartening to see that some Republicans do have the fortitude and the spine to fight and to put the Democrats on notice. Their shady backroom and sweetheart deals will not stand. If that is how they plan to ram this bill through, think again. Or, in the case of Democrats, think at all.

British PSA Agency Tells Al Gore: You Lie

2010 March 17

Lori Ziganto’s latest article at iOwntheworld

Well, maybe they didn’t say it directly to Al Gore, but I’m pretending that they did in my mind, because it pleases me immensely.

From NewsBusters:

A British agency has banned two government television ads for exaggerating the danger of global warming.

Hee hee. Banned! For totally made-up exaggerating. Oh, if only we could ban Al Gore himself!

As reported by BBC.com Wednesday:

Two posters juxtaposed adapted extracts from popular nursery rhymes with text that warned about the dangers of global warning.

One of the banned adverts read: “Rub a dub, three men in a tub, a necessary course of action due to flash flooding caused by climate change.”

And a second said Jack and Jill could not fetch a pail of water because extreme weather due to climate change had caused a drought.

I would have banned them just for being totally lame and trite. They should have gone all out and said “Humpy Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall — BECAUSE THE ENTIRE EARTH DISAPPEARED!!!”

Capitol Hill Police Victims of Congressional Arrogance

2010 March 17

Okay, they are trying to bully the entire country, so this may not seem like such a big deal in the grand scheme of things. But, it’s a symptom of a much larger problem in the halls of Congress. Plus, it’s still really jerky, Better Than You ™  behavior. It’s also incredibly stupid ; the Hill cops are meant to protect them. From The Hill:

Capitol Hill cops decry bullying staff members

U.S. Capitol Police officers say they need more backing from their leaders to stop congressional staffers who insist on bypassing metal detectors when entering the Capitol with lawmakers.

Several officers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told The Hill that without a written directive of the policy, they’re left to face bullying staffers and intimidating lawmakers who have been known to file complaints against the officers. The staffers have accused them of discourteous treatment after being stopped and directed to the magnetometers.

Wow. They file complaints against Hill police for doing their jobs because they feel that they are too important and above complying with the rules? I suppose we should be glad that they all don’t physically hit Hill police, like the ever classy Rep. Cynthia McKinney did.

It’s also funny how they constantly pass security measures that WE must all comply with, but they are, of course, above it all. This is just another instance of  “Do as we say, not as we do.” Not too long ago, Senator Schumer was a prime example of such unwarranted and icky hubris, when he berated a flight attendant for doing her job.

Obamacare’s Dirty Little Secret: Eugenics

2010 March 17

Stupak Amendment Exposes Obamacare’s Dirty Little Secret: Eugenics

The other day, when Bart Stupak revealed that he was told “If you pass the Stupak Amendment, more children will be born and therefore it will cost us millions more”, I mentioned that it was no real surprise. Abortion is an agenda to the Left, it’s not about life or some perceived ‘choice’. I said that it just exposes the face underneath the mask a bit more; Now, it isn’t just about funding abortion, but using it as a cost-saving toolJames Taranto of The Wall Street Journal agrees:

In order to be effective, a policy of using abortion as a cost-cutting measure would have to aim at preventing the birth of babies with such pre-existing conditions. The goal would be not a reduction in the number of babies, but an “improvement” in the “quality” (narrowly defined in economic terms) of the babies who are born. This is known as eugenics.

Eugenics, indeed. See, not only can individual women be  “punished by a baby,” but so can the entire World, evidently. This is one of the left’s dirty little secrets; factions of the left have been encouraging eugenics for years. The “green” movement, for instance, has population control at its core.  An example from Diane Francis, of the Financial Post, who in her article entitled The Real Inconvenient Truth: The Whole World Needs to Adopt China’s One Child Policy, echoes the true beliefs of many global warming embracers. You know, like the majority of the Democrats in Congress and our President.

Paul Ryan: ‘We are not governing today, we are greasing the skids’

2010 March 15

By Lori Ziganto at RedState:

So said Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) during today’s Budget Committee farce wherein the “shell” bill was passed. It now heads over to be marked up and can include whatever they want, including public option, and can be loaded with earmarks to secure wavering or undecided votes. Like I said last night, everything is now on the table. Everything.

Ryan then went on to say the following during Budget Committee today: “This abuse of the process, this abuse of the constitution…are not worthy of your support.” Among other things. The full eight minutes is well worth watching.

This isn’t about health care reform. It’s about Liberty and our very way of life. If it passes, we continue the fight to get it repealed as swiftly as possible before the insidious nature of socialized medicine can take root.

Freedom isn’t a political talking point, it isn’t even political at all. It is simply a way of being, despite the best attempts by others, in this case our own government, to take it away. We must stand firm with Rep. Ryan and all who seek to keep us free. Stay angry and use the anger to keep fighting; we can’t risk doing otherwise.

Does The ‘Shell’ Health Care Bill Have Any Teeth?

2010 March 15

Lori Ziganto’s latest article at RedState:

Does The ‘Shell’ Health Care Bill Have Any Teeth? Dead Sister’s or Otherwise?

The short answer is: Do not trust. And verify.

Upon the release of the ’shell’ 2,300 page reconciliation health care bill, which includes a public option, immediately some started issuing calls to calm down, that it’s a shell bill that will allegedly be stripped by the Rules Committee. Allegedly is the key word. While it is what we are being told, there is no guarantee. In fact, the air drop rules committee strategy allows for any provisions that they need to pass the bill, and that can include the public option or anything else that they wish to insert. read more…

Leftist The Nation magazine: When In Doubt, Blame Bush. Again

2010 March 13

It seems that math, cooking and basic home economics aren’t the only things with which Katrina Vanden Heuvel has trouble. I wrote about her inability to function at those household basics yesterday, here at NewsReal. Well, it appears that the reality-challenged Vanden Heuvel, Editor of The Nation magazine, also isn’t a very good, you know, Editor.

.. the editor of The Nation might well be looking at GOP success as her best shot at salvaging the sinking fortunes of her far-left magazine.

A recent article in Vanity Fair—which no one would accuse shilling for the right—is entitled: Hate Sells: Why Liberal Magazines Are Suffering Under Obama. It details how circulation at The Nation has been dropping significantly since Pres. Obama took office.   I was prompted to research the magazine’s numbers when, watching Larry O’Donnell guest-hosting Countdown this evening, a Nation commercial appeared that consisted largely of a trip down liberal nostalgia lane: Bush bashing . .

When in doubt, or rather, in humiliating, massive decline, Blame Bush ™ ! It kind of takes the wind out of the whole “we inherited our problems from Bush” meme, however, when things were better for you when Bush was in office!

Of course, things like facts and reason hold no water with media leftists,  like Vanden Heuvel. Which is why they’ll never “get” it.  See for yourself:

Scott Brown Delivers Devastating GOP Address

2010 March 13

By Lori Ziganto at RedState

Senator Scott Brown Delivers Devastating GOP Weekly Address
Associated Press Then ‘Blames’ Senator Brown for Failure to Pass Health Care Bill

Last month, I defended Scott Brown on his vote for cloture on the ridiculous jobs bill. While I obviously thought that it was a mistake, I wasn’t ready to break out the pitchforks. Scott Brown is a Massachusetts Republican and, at the time, I said “still better partially Red, than Ted.” I said that I’d maintain faith in him and that I’d withhold my judgment until the health care votes, to see if he kept his main campaign promise; the promise that I believe was the reason most Conservatives backed him wholeheartedly.

Today, he validated that faith. He gave the GOP weekly address and he knocked it out of the park, with a scathing and truthful indictment of Obama, the Democrats and their leadership, and the health care bill that they are, with unmitigated hubris, trying to ram down our throats against the will of the American people.

Video and a partial transcript of his awesomely devastating remarks follows below (emphasis mine).

Stupak: Dems Told Me Funding Abortion Is Good, Because Kids Are Costly

2010 March 12

From Lori Ziganto’s latest article at RedState:

Bart Stupak just had a revelation. And it’s a disturbing one.

Sitting in an airport, on his way home to Michigan, Rep. Bart Stupak, a pro-life Democrat, is chagrined. “They’re ignoring me,” he says, in a phone interview with National Review Online. “That’s their strategy now. The House Democratic leaders think they have the votes to pass the Senate’s health-care bill without us. At this point, there is no doubt that they’ve been able to peel off one or two of my twelve. And even if they don’t have the votes, it’s been made clear to us that they won’t insert our language on the abortion issue.”

What are Democratic leaders saying? “If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That’s one of the arguments I’ve been hearing,” Stupak says. “Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue — come on, we can find room in the budget. This is life we’re talking about.”

We knew this. For all their talk of pro-choice, the far left is actually pro-abortion. It’s about an agenda to them, not about life. And remember, not too long ago Senator Feinstein said it was “morally correct” to fund abortion. This just exposes the face underneath the mask a bit more. Now, it isn’t just about funding abortion, but using it as a cost-saving tool. Bart Stupak is realizing that now — in a moment of division with his party, he had some clarity. He is a Democrat insider and he sees this chilling reality in his own Caucus.
