When Nixon went to China in 1972, I was a very impressionable and inquisitive five-year-old who was captivated by the news reports about the leader of our country visiting this distant and fascinating land. Understanding that America and China had long experienced tension with each other, and alienation, Nixon’s visit had as great an impact on me as the moon landing had for children three years previously. Because the China visit was all I knew of him, Henry Kissinger, the man with the German accent who had facilitated the trip on behalf of our country was, to me, as marvelous as many schoolchildren deemed the astronauts of Apollo 11 to be. So it is that I did feel quite honored to receive an advance copy of Kissinger’s new book “On China“, a thorough overview of China’s relationship with the world from ancient times through today based on Henry Kissinger’s studies of Chinese history and his personal experiences in fifty visits to the country.
Speaker of the House John Boehner, a Catholic, is set to give the commencement speech at Catholic University of America (CUA), and the “elite” Catholic Left could not be more upset. A “whopping” seventy Catholic professors, priests and nuns have signed a letter in protest. There are often more Catholics than that at my rural Kentucky parish’s Saturday night Mass. So why is the Soros-funded movement media at Think Progress freaking out over John Boehner speaking at CUA? The reason has nothing to do with the “Church’s Ancient Moral Teachings” and everything to do with the left’s political agenda. At stake are the pro-abortion president‘s hopes for re-election and 67 million Catholic votes. Think Progress sees political value in assisting the Catholic Left in “re-defining” (through false messaging) what Catholicism really teaches on important campaign issues like health care and the economy. Is Boehner really in opposition to Catholic teaching on service to the poor? No. But the Left certainly is.

At Two Circles, a popular site in India for Muslims, comes a curious article by Rehan Ansari.
According to the site’s “About” page:
We will not publish articles that is racist, sexist or makes baseless allegation against a person or community.
Well, that’s nice of them, but let’s just see about that, shall we? read more…
Little Village Academy, by virtue of the “authority” vested in them by Chicago Public Schools (CPS), is no longer allowing students to bring sack lunches from home. School officials have lost all faith in parents‘ ability and/or willingness to provide “better” nutrition for their children than schools can, so they’ve taken over kids’ nutrition and squashed the role of the parent. In Chicago schools, kids can say goodbye to Mom’s peanut butter sandwiches and hello to whatever school officials decide they should eat…all based on the whims of the principal.
Conservatives are fond of the term “nanny state” to describe government overreaches, but forbidding parent-packed lunches goes far beyond what most people would refer to as a “nanny state.” CPS has soared headlong into full-fledged “Daddy Government” by claiming that principals have authority to push totalitarian nutritional policy onto families. Providing options for parents and their kids is one thing, but for a school to outright forbid lunches lovingly prepared by a responsible parent is a complete rejection of the centuries-old standard that the family is the basic unity of society and that parents have primary authority over their children. So it is with the Left’s utopian fantasies about the “ever-benevolent” and “all-knowing”government. To the leftist, government always knows better than individuals and families do…even on something as basic as what we eat.
Lawrence O’Donnell Cries Over Women’s Mammograms But Doesn’t Blink Over Child Sex Slaves
MSNBC pundit Lawrence O’Donnell got emotional on Friday while defending taxpayer funding of the largest abortion provider in America, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). In an attack on Senator John Kyl (R-AZ), O’Donnell offered nothing more than an anecdote and a pie chart in a segment entitled, remarkably, “Rewriting Lies on Planned Parenthood.” While the Left makes hay about Glenn Beck “crying on demand,” Lawrence O’Donnell gets a pass…and so does the cover-up of child sex trafficking at PPFA.
How can stone cold hearts produce such tears?
An absurd report quoted in Mother Jones attempts to counter the Team B II Report entitled “Sharia: The Threat to America” by defending Islamist barbarity through claiming moral equivalency to Jewish and Christian scriptures. The comparison to Christian scripture by Matt Duss and Wajahat Ali, both of whom are apologists for the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) whose leaders were convicted of funding Hamas terror, points the finger of blame directly at Jesus Christ Himself.
Why would Mother Jones quote them in an attempt to paint Jesus Christ as equivalent to Islamist barbarians? Is there no Christian on the Left willing to defend Jesus against this outrageous and false charge?
In September, I wrote about the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops‘ [USCCB] endorsement of an ‘interfaith letter‘ that was co-signed by radical Wahhabists from the Islamic Society of North America [ISNA] and various representatives of the radical Religious Left. Real Muslim reformers like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser did not sign the statement addressing ‘anti-Muslim prejudice’. Cardinal McCarrick now acknowledges public criticism of the particular Muslims that the bishops have sought to make relationships with–and he is defending that relationship.
Have the bishops been duped? Or is the leftist political agenda really more important to them than protecting America from terrorism?
Useful idiots came in handy for Lenin, and they are coming in handy today for those who seek to bring Sharia (Islamic) Law into America’s courtrooms. Florida Judge Richard Nielsen has ruled that he will settle a dispute according to “Ecclesiastical Islamic Law” and Adam Serwer at The American Prospect is bending over backwards to defend the ruling. Secular judges making rulings based on Sharia? That’s not justice. It’s justice denied.
University Protects Student Who Issued Jihadist Death Threats Against Conservatives and Jews
This popular post was originally published March 22, 2011.
I should have brought an M16…My blood is boiling…I want to shoot everyone in this room.
These are some of the terroristic words of McGill University (MU) student Haaris Khan, tweeted in reference to Conservatives, Libertarians and Jews. The following day he tweeted,
The jihad begins today.
Despite university policy which prohibits threats of violence, and with a police investigation underway, MU has opted to take no disciplinary action against the student and is now stoking fear about potential backlash if word gets out. When did anti-Semitism and jihadist death threats become protected speech at MU?
