Arab League Pressing United Nations For Gaza No-Fly Zone… While Terrorist Rockets Target Israeli Children
Hamas is now deliberately targeting Israeli school children with rocket attacks against clearly marked school buses. They know no shame, yet they continue to play the victim, pleading with the international community for protection from Israel’s reprisals.
Terrorists in Gaza fired an anti-tank missile at an Israeli school bus on Thursday, injuring two people, one of them very seriously. As many as 50 children had been on the bus as it made its way from a regional middle school to drop the kids at their homes. The missile ripped through the entire bus, destroying the interior. Fortunately, most students had disembarked minutes before the attack or there would have been a much more devastating tragedy. read more…
Last night’s last-minute agreement on significant spending reductions for the balance of the 2011 fiscal year, which averted a government shut-down, was an important accomplishment for the American people concerned about our nation’s current path towards bankruptcy. It is a down payment in a long process, starting us down what will hopefully be a new path towards lower and lower spending.
President Obama‘s cheerleaders at MSNBC have tried to give him credit for making the deal possible. ‘Tingle-down-my-leg’ Chris Matthews, for example, said last night that Obama was
the adult in the room
Nice try, but after a couple of failed meetings at the White House, Obama took a time out, while the real work was going on elsewhere. Obama was relegated to a bystander status during yesterday’s feverish negotiations between the House Republican leadership and the Senate Democratic leadership. And he looked like a deer caught in the headlights when he appeared on TV late last night to announce the deal. He began by mentioning how the Washington Monument, lit up behind him, would now be kept open. Somewhere down on his list of those whom he said would benefit from the deal were our soldiers, who will now be sure they will continue to receive their paychecks. Obama is clueless on what the American people, through the Tea Party movement and other grass-roots movements, have managed to accomplish. read more…
Our brave troops have answered the call of duty, as they always do. They do not deserve to be cut off from being paid if there is a government shutdown. Yet that is precisely what their Commander-In-Chief has threatened to do.
Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed a contingency continuing resolution that would have ensured funding of the military for the rest of this 2011 fiscal year, as well as continuing to keep the rest of the government open for another week to permit more time for negotiations. In essence, the House protected our troops from financial harm if there is ultimately a shutdown of the government over the budget impasse. President Obama’s response was a veto threat. read more…
President Obama Mirrors What The American People Think About Him: “That is not a way to run a government”
President Obama summed up yesterday what many Americans have concluded about his own administration and about the Congress, which for the first two years of his term was run entirely by Obama’s friends in the Democratic majority:
That is not a way to run a government.
Yes, Mr. President, you are right. But whose fault is that? Just look in the mirror. You have been in charge. read more…
It took two years, but the Obama administration finally announced that self-professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his four alleged co-conspirators will face prosecution by a military tribunal in Guantanamo. Attorney General Eric Holder, appearing as if he had been waterboarded into reversing his prior decision to try them in a federal court in New York, made the announcement yesterday.
The reversal spared the nation from a made-for-TV Al Qaeda propaganda circus and allowed New Yorkers to breathe a sigh of relief that they won’t have to host these monsters in their backyard. read more…
The economist and New York Times op-ed columnist Paul Krugman wrote an article today entitled “The Truth, Still Inconvenient.” In it, he tried to portray recent congressional testimony by a global warming skeptic, Berkeley physics Prof. Richard Muller, as supportive of the findings of global warming scientists themselves. Krugman described Prof. Muller, who has been leading the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project, as
a climate skeptic who was actually willing to change his mind in the face of evidence
As usual, Krugman is in denial and has distorted the facts. read more…
According to a Quinnipiac University poll of registered voters released Wednesday, President Barack Obama’s approval ratings have reached a new low at 42%. His disapproval rating was 48%. Half of those surveyed for the poll do not think that the president deserves a second term in office.
On the “O’Reilly Factor” last night, Bill O’Reilly posited that Obama’s declining poll numbers reveal Americans’ doubts about his leadership skills and where he is leading our country. Here are just a few examples of Obama’s leadership failures: read more…
The New Obama Doctrine: Arming Our Enemies?
The Obama administration is reportedly actively considering arming the Libyan rebels without even knowing for certain who they really are. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who met on Tuesday in London with a senior rebel leader and made clear that Col. Qaddafi must go, admitted that:
We don’t know as much as we would like to know.
However, what we do know at this point is alarming enough to stop any Commander-in-Chief with America’s best interests in mind from even considering providing arms to these rebels. But not necessarily our current Commander-In-Chief, heralding his new Obama Doctrine of deferring to international consensus on how far we go in fulfilling internationally defined ‘humanitarian’ military missions. read more…
Not surprisingly, the New York Times lead editorial today praised President Obama’s speech Monday night on Libya. The editorial claimed he made a “strong case” for America’s military intervention.
For the reasons I describe in more detail in my Front Page article today, Obama’s speech did little to dispel the fog surrounding his objectives and endgame. But I want to focus here on two themes the Times emphasized in its laudatory review of Obama’s speech. read more…
The New York Times ran a sophomoric “Op-Art” piece on Saturday entitled “The Glenn Beck Channel.” Responding to reports this past week that Beck may be starting his own cable channel when his contract with Fox News expires later this year, the authors offered their suggestions for a viewing schedule.
Since the New York Times is now charging for online access to its content and looking for new ways to generate revenue to offset its rapidly declining print sales, it is quite possible that, just like Glenn Beck, it may start its own cable channel. However, one difference is that, just like left-wing NPR, it would probably expect taxpayer money to help pay for it.
So here, in the interest of fulfilling the Left’s favorite ideology, the Fairness Doctrine, is my own sophomoric suggested daily viewing schedule for the Times to consider if and when it decides to launch a new cable channel. read more…
Islamic law (sharia) contradicts the notion that all human beings are entitled to be treated with equal dignity and have inalienable rights. Islamic law separates believers from nonbelievers, sanctioning inferior status, if not outright death, for the latter. In this worldview, religious tolerance is a one-way street. Women in Islam are degraded to submissiveness under misogynist laws. Children are taught to hate. Critical thought that questions official Islamic doctrines is regarded as the crime of defamation of Islam, punishable by death. read more…
While ferment grips the Arab world in the Middle East and North Africa and all eyes are on Libya, Palestinian terrorists continue their deadly activities against Israel including a bombing in Jersualem yesterday and rocket attacks on Israeli cities launched from Gaza.
I believe that the terrorists are being opportunistic in the timing of their attacks. They may well be seeking to prod Israel into a massive retaliation, which they would then try to morally equate to Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi‘s killing of civilians that brought forth a military response from the international community. read more…
