Buyer’s Remorse? Cornel West Vehemently Declares His Disillusionment With Barack Obama

2011 May 18

My “day job” is in the cellular phone industry. One of the service related issues I see the most often are customers who bought a phone at another store but come to me because they’re not happy with it. Maybe they weren’t ready for the latest technology, or maybe they purchased a particular phone because they thought it looked cool but found out it wasn’t what it was cracked up to be (this scenario happens a lot with the iPhone), or maybe they simply don’t like the phone’s features. Of course, we call this phenomenon “buyer’s remorse.”

We see it all the time, whether it involves a car, a television, a piece of furniture, or a computer. Plenty of people walk away from a purchase in which they’ve invested loads of money and time spent researching, only to find they’re not really satisfied with what they’ve brought home. Too often, buyer’s remorse happens when it’s too late and the product cannot be returned. Just this week we’ve come across a clear case of buyer’s remorse in the person of Cornel West. read more…

Not Invited to the Wedding: Why Great Britain Doesn’t Like Barack Obama

2011 May 8

This popular post was originally published May 2.

Last week, you couldn’t turn on the television or get on the web without being subjected to some sort of coverage of the royal wedding. It was truly a global phenomenon, and the American fascination with it was remarkable. What other event would prompt 22.8 million viewers across the country to wake up at an ungodly hour to witness an event taking place thousands of miles away? (Worldwide viewership is estimated at a staggering 2 billion, reportedly making the ceremony the most-watched event in history.)

In addition to the media frenzy, there was much consternation and speculation about the deliberate omission of Barack and Michelle Obama from the guest list for the wedding. Explanations for the snub ranged from the fact that the wedding was not a state occasion to possible security concerns. But I can’t help but wonder if the reason for not inviting the Obamas runs much deeper than those reasons. After all, Barack Obama has presided over a stunning and shameful deterioration of the “special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom. read more…

6 Historical Reasons Why The Muslim Brotherhood Must Not Be Allowed Into Power In Egypt

2011 May 8

This list post was first published in February here.

With the recent events in Egypt, there has been a lot of talk about the Muslim Brotherhood. I have to admit, I never knew much about the Muslim Brotherhood until last week. I had read a little about their actions in the past and assumed that they were an old, defunct organization whose members had funneled off into other organizations. My assumptions were wrong.

The Muslim Brotherhood is alive and well, and not just in the Middle East. They are a worldwide network of Islamic extremists with one overriding goal: the adoption of Islam and Sharia law throughout the world, and they have a history of violently attempting to achieve that aim. read more…

Top 7 Facts From Obama’s Background That Prove He’s a Socialist

2011 May 7

This important list post was first published in January here.

I recently finished Stanley Kurtz’s fascinating book, Radical-In-Chief: Barack Obama And The Untold Story Of American Socialism. If you’re a regular reader of NewsReal Blog, no doubt you’ve heard quite a bit about this book over the last several weeks. It truly is an eye opening read.

Radical-In-Chief is a glimpse into how socialism has informed President Obama’s political development, associations, career choices, and policy decisions over the years. It’s also a handy primer into the history of post-sixties socialism in America. The main point of Radical-In-Chief is that all evidence points to the fact that Obama is a socialist with a radical vision for restructuring and transforming American society. read more…

How A Cowboy’s Policies Helped A Community Organizer Nab Osama Bin Laden

2011 May 4

Osama bin Laden is dead. It feels so good to be able to make that statement after nearly a decade of struggle. And you’ll never guess how we found out key information that led us to him, especially if you’ve followed the narrative of the Left throughout the War on Terror. To explain what allowed our Navy SEALS to be able to send Bin Laden to meet his maker, let’s take a little trip back in time.

Think back with me to the earlier days of the War on Terror. Remember those days, when our president was a reckless cowboy who fought wars for oil and said things like “Bring it on!” and had the gall to stand in front of signs that read “Mission Accomplished” when certain parts of his administration’s missions were actually accomplished? read more…

The 5 Best Ways to Destroy Andrew Breitbart

2011 April 30

I can’t remember who told me this: “People don’t attack you unless they see you as a threat.”

The Left’s biggest targets — from Rush Limbaugh to Ronald Reagan — have been the ones who were capable of the most damage to the progressive cause. That adage must apply to Andrew Breitbart, because the Left hasn’t stopped trying to discredit him and bring him down.

Breitbart has emerged as one of the leading soldiers on the front lines of the cultural war between the Right and the Left. He has called himself a “reluctant cultural warrior,” yet he is unafraid to dive head-first into controversy. Whether he’s calling out the NAACP for accusing Tea Party activists of racism, going toe to toe with the tools at Media Matters, or facing down the worst interviewer in the world, Martin Bashir, Breitbart confronts the Left head on. read more…

Bad Medicine: The Obama Administration Shells Out Serious Money To Force Americans To Swallow Obamacare

2011 April 19

As a kid, I used to hate taking medicine. (Except for orange Triaminic — that stuff was awesome! I tried to fake being sick once just to be able to drink some of it, but my mom was on to me.) Most medicines tasted terrible, and I was just stubborn enough to not want to take them. My mom used to say, “But it’s good for you. It’ll make you feel better.” That didn’t matter. I didn’t want the awful taste, so I simply didn’t want to swallow it.

The Obama administration has mixed up some bitter medicine for the country in their attempt to cure the ills of the nation’s health care system. Interestingly enough, the American people have clamped their mouths shut as tightly as they can, attempting to refuse to swallow the medicine of Obamacare:

A new Associated Press-GfK Poll shows support for President Obama’s health care overhaul is at its lowest level (35 percent) since passage, with opposition at 45 percent. Among seniors, support has dipped below 30 percent for the first time in AP-GfK polling.

But it’s not stopping the federal government from trying to shove the spoon down our throats.

We’re beginning to learn the lengths to which the administration is going in their attempts to sway Americans to accept socialized medicine — and learn to like it. The Pittsburgh Tribune reports:

The Obama administration has plenty of public money on hand to sell the castor oil that is ObamaCare. Trouble is, it isn’t having much luck convincing Americans to gag it down.

Documents obtained by Judicial Watch reveal a taxpayer-funded multimedia campaign — up to $200 million — to advance ObamaCare along with other Health and Human Services initiatives. Must be part of President Barack Obama’s ingenious plan to reduce the federal deficit by spending more money.

The most obvious attempt by the administration to sway public opinion in favor of socialized medicine was the ad campaign featuring Andy Griffith. The government spent $3 million dollars on three ads featuring the venerable actor hawking Obamacare. Here’s a taste:

Now I’m a son of the South, where Andy Griffith is an absolute institution, particularly for older generations. If there were a Southern version of Mount Rushmore, his head would be on it. At the same time, plenty of people I know have lost some respect for him as a result of these ads. For the administration to use someone as well-respected as Griffith is shameless and offensive. (I can just hear it now: “Let’s get Andy Griffith! He’s loved by seniors, and they’ll do whatever he says.”) Here’s what Fact Check has to say about the ads:

Would the sheriff of Mayberry mislead you about Medicare? Alas, yes.

In a new TV spot from the Obama administration, actor Andy Griffith, famous for his 1960s portrayal of the top law enforcement official in the fictional town of Mayberry, N.C., touts benefits of the new health care law. Griffith tells his fellow senior citizens, “like always, we’ll have our guaranteed [Medicare] benefits.” But the truth is that the new law is guaranteed to result in benefit cuts for one class of Medicare beneficiaries — those in private Medicare Advantage plans.

The Alinsky President Plays The Lincoln Card: Obama Attempts To Invoke Greatness To Sell His Suicidal Economic Plan

2011 April 14

By now you’ve heard all about President Obama’s speech on reducing the budget deficit. If you, like me, weren’t able to listen to it live, chances are you’ve heard enough of the speech (or maybe you read the text of it), as well as some sort of commentary on it, to form an opinion. After all, it’s been chopped into sound bites, parsed, and analyzed to death by both sides.

It’s actually pretty easy to have an opinion on Obama’s words. It’s easy to look at the ideas and plans the president laid out in the speech and make a decision on whether you agree with them or not. Let’s face it: the vast majority of analysis of the speech has centered around the specifics of it.

But let’s take a look at one aspect of the speech that hasn’t been spotlighted much: Obama’s quoting of Abraham Lincoln. read more…

Bipartisanship Bites Back: The Daily Kos Gets Angry Over The Budget Compromise

2011 April 11

You’d think the Left would be happy. You’d honestly think they’d be jumping for joy. After all, Congress was able to avoid a government shutdown with yet another continuing resolution to keep federal services up and running for at least another week.

Why should the Left be excited about this? The answer is simple: Congressional Democrats stood by with their arms folded, refusing to work with Republicans on moving a real budget forward. The Democrats stood to bear the public relations fallout from a government shutdown for their stubborn inaction. So a resolution to avoid the shutdown theoretically should spare the Democrats a world of hurt.

Crisis averted, right? Not really. read more…

This Report Brought To You By The Obama Administration: CBS & WaPo Dip Into Obamacare Slush Fund

2011 April 7

These days, it’s hard to believe that anybody still falls for the fallacy of objective reporting from the mainstream press. For over half a century, media bias in favor of the Left has been a problem. And it seems to have gotten worse during the Obama years. From skewed reporting of events, to fawning, softball interviews with the president, to the insertion of the Obamas into otherwise apolitical situations, it is abundantly clear that the mainstream media is firmly planted in the Obama camp.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, it has. Two influential media corporations are now receiving money from an Obama administration program, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. (But don’t worry: their coverage of health care reform will be unbiased, won’t it?) read more…
