Red Eye: You Can Have My Trans Fats When You Scrape Them Out of My Cold, Dead Arteries

2010 September 15

Violent extremists? Feh! Cheeseburgers are EVIL!

Years ago, when I lived in upstate New York, I decided to quit smoking. Around the same time, I developed a craving for Buffalo wings. There was a great wing joint less than a mile away that delivered.

I got fat. 25 wings, four or five times a week will do that to you.

Sure, there were dietary charts and calorie counters, but did I read them? No. If only I’d been forced, against my own personal tastes and free will, to eat healthy I wouldn’t have been in that predicament.

Thankfully, a young person today will never have to deal with the obesity problem in the future. read more…

Red Eye: Gay Saudi Seeks Asylum, Rauf Silent

2010 September 14

Protesting a mosque makes Feisal Rauf sad. Gay muslims being killed? Not so much.

On the most recent episode of “Red Eye,” host Greg Gutfeld and guests discussed a Saudi diplomat asking for political asylum in the United States as his government has discovered he is gay and also has a Jewish, female friend. The diplomat now fears for his life.

Ground Zero Mosque Imam and lover of peace, Feisal Abdul Rauf, immediately condemned the Saudi government as bigoted and warned of a violent homosexual backlash should the diplomat’s request not be granted.

Except, of course, he totally didn’t. read more…

Red Eye: Chris Christie is Too Big to Fail

2010 September 11

Does Obama know Christie is an American? (And a conservative?)

Chris Christie, the blunt and outspoken governor of New Jersey, has made no friends on the Left side of the political spectrum. His no nonsense delivery and rye honesty don’t exactly endear him to the touchy-feely crowd. Consequently, Christie has become an Internet hero and a conservative folk legend in his own time.

The governor gained fame (and notoriety) recently for his clashes with New Jersey teachers after economic hardship forced him to trim the state’s education budget.

Christie’s verbal smack downs are his trademark, and it’s no wonder this latest confrontation with a New Jersey educator made it to “Red Eye.”  Host Greg Gutfeld, who turns 46 this Sunday (Happy Birthday, Greg!), joined guests Lauren Sivan, Tom Shillue and Kerry Picket to discuss our favorite “large and in charge” governor, among other subjects. read more…

Red Eye: To Burn or Not To Burn – Radicalism Explored

2010 September 10

Now THIS is a radical.

Remember that nutty pastor in Gainesville, Florida who was going to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11 by burning copies of the Qur’an? Terry Jones is calling off the event after speaking with various members of the government, including Robert Gates.

Red Eye” host, Greg Gutfeld, said in a special supplementary Greg-Alogue

Obama said the act would incite terrorists “to blow themselves up.”

Maybe.

Remember when an Imam was going to build a mosque near Ground Zero and the government stepped in because they feared the emotional reactions of everyday Americans would incite violence and lead to people “blowing themselves up?”

Me neither. read more…

Red Eye: Florida Church to Qur’an- “Burn, Baby, Burn!”

2010 September 9

Only nuts in FL ever burned anything in protest. Oh, right...

The latest edition of “Red Eye” brought together host Greg Gutfeld with Imogen Lloyd Webber, Stephen Kruiser and Joe DeRosa. As always, TV’s Andy Levy and faithful sidekick, Bill Schulz, rounded out the show.

The hot topic of the evening was the plan by a small Florida church to burn copies of the holy book of Islam on September, 11, to mark the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on US territory.

As Gutfeld pointed out, the current American dialectic on this issue seems to be “sure, legally they can burn the Qur’an, but that doesn’t mean it’s right.” Gutfeld has heard this argument before, somewhere.

…that mostly everyone agrees the pastor can burn the book, but he’s a big weenie if he does it. This was exactly  my argument over the construction of the [Ground Zero] mosque. So in a weird way, this guy may have clued in others who missed that subtle point: The mosque can be built, but a compromise (or a conversation about it) might have been nice. Don’t get me wrong: the Koran burning is pure provocation, and I’m not sure that’s entirely the case with the mosque. But both issues deal with poor judgment. The key distinction: the pastor is a total barfpuck.

Red Eye: Hey, This Sounds Pretty Ironic

2010 September 8

The Al Gore, Rachel Carson school will cost $800 million. DDT costs $0.43 a pound. Now that's an inconvenient truth

After a week away, it’s delightful to be back writing about “Red Eye.”

Tonight, Greg Gutfeld played host to Patti Ann Browne, Greg Proops and Dana Vachon where they discussed Obama bringing sexy back and a study showing “soul mates” tend not to do well. I sense a November, 2012 separation.

The story of the night, and also the Greg-Alogue, was about a new school in Los Angeles being named after Al Gore and Rachel Carson. Carson, you may remember, wrote the book Silent Spring, which lead to a reversal of pesticide policy and the ban on DDT. read more…

Hello. Our name is America, and We’re Very, Very Sorry

2010 August 25

The sad truth.

The latest episode of “Red Eye” was a hoot as first time guest Dennis Miller joined Martha MacCallum and the cast to bring fans an extra hilarious hour of fun.

Host Greg Gutfeld, back from a brief vacation, led the discussion on varied topics, such as James Cameron’s recent decision to pull out of a global warming debate he arranged. Also, squirrel underwear.

The featured story was the recent report by the US State Department to the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC). You know, that select group of nations that embody the very pinnacle of equality and achievement in the advancement of the human condition by universally condemning Israel. read more…

Red Eye, Rauf and – Oh Yeah! – Racism

2010 August 24

Time needs a new editor. I suggest this guy.

Comedian Jim Norton, frequent “Red Eye” guest, took over hosting duties for the latest episode while Greg Gutfeld remained on vacation. Norton entertained guests – Lauren Sivan, S.E. Cupp and Anothony Cumia – with his offbeat humor and self-deprecation.

The cast and friends discussed such topics as The Situation’s earning power, enhanced screening techniques at airports, a dating site in the UK dedicated to ugly people and Time Magazine’s upcoming cover story: “Is America Islamophobic?”

We all know when the mainstream media asks a question like that, what they really mean is: why does everyone who doesn’t agree with us suck so much? read more…

Coulter Vs. Farah on Red Eye: Will the Real American Values Stand Up?

2010 August 21

Faith and Religion are beautiful things. Until they're not.

The latest episode of “Red Eye” was extra special as ombudsman, TV’s Andy Levy, stepped out from the little room in which he is normally kept and took up hosting duties for an absent Greg Gutfeld.

Guests Ann Coulter, Marc Lamont Hill and Rick Leventhal chimed in on such various subjects as the Ground Zero Mosque from the perspective of strippers, Dr. Laura’s N-bomb fiasco and whether the President might secretly be a Muslim and a nasty Christian vs. Christian debate regarding Ann Coulter’s speaking engagements.

Wait, what?.

Coulter is the keynote speaker at this year’s “Homocon,” a convention by and for gay conservatives sponsored by GOProud. WND CEO, Joseph Farah, isn’t happy about it. After “painful deliberation,” Farah uninvited Coulter from speaking at a conference as she is, he claims, clearly legitimizing the radical gay agenda undermining American values.

“Red Eye” token leftist, Bill Schulz, made the obligatory “WND are all closet cases” remark, thus fulfilling his duty and allowing me to place another checkmark on my politically correct buzzword bingo scorecard. Similarly, Hill took the occasion to mention how white Republicans don’t believe in dinosaurs. This is patently false. Conservatives talk about Barney Frank all the time! read more…

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies! Oh, and Evil Jews

2010 August 20

"Jews Are Evil!" Gee...where have I heard THAT before?

It was ladies night on the most recent “Red Eye.” Greg Gutfeld and TV’s Andy levy played host to a bevy of beauties: Juliet Huddy, Angela McGlowan and Amy Schumer. Oh, yeah. Bill was there, too. In honor of the occasion, perhaps “Red Eye’s” New York Times correspondent, Pinch, should have been replaced by someone from Emily’s List.

Warning, reader. At least two of the people mentioned in the former paragraph are Jews! This will become relevant when you read on.

Aside from discussing the recent court decision on the Stolen Valor Act and Dr. Laura’s unfortunate N-word tirade, the ongoing Ground Zero Mosque story took a quite unexpected turn.

As Gutfeld noted, PajamasMedia quoted Egyptian newspaper, Al Masry Al Youm

A number of Al Azhar ulema expressed their opposition to building a mosque near [where] the events of September 11 [occurred], convinced that it is “a conspiracy to confirm a clear connection between the strikes of September [11] and Islam.” Dr. ‘Abd al-Mu‘ti Bayumi, a member of the Islamic Research Academy [of Al Azhar] told Al Masry Al Youm  that he rejects the building of any mosque in this area [Ground Zero], because the “devious mentality” desires to connect these events [of 9/11] with Islam, though he maintains that Islam is innocent of this accusation. Instead, it is a “Zionist conspiracy,” which many are making use of to harm the religion.

Al Azhar is a Sunni Islam educational institution. read more…

Transparent Nancy

2010 August 19

Is Pelosi SURE she wants to shine the harsh light of reality on the opposition?

Hey! Did you know a group whose leader has dubious ties to radical Islamic groups, and who himself has said many iffy things about the attacks against the USA on 9/11 is planning on building a gigantic community center and mosque near Ground Zero? I bet you didn’t, because it’s been a big secret.

Likewise, “Red Eye” guests Kimberly Guilfoyle, Joe DeVito and Matt McCall were shocked – shocked, I tell you – when host Greg Gutfeld broke the news on the latest episode’s Greg-Alogue. read more…

Why Do Moderate Muslims Hate the Amish?

2010 August 18

Muslims demand religious tolerance. On the other hand, to heck with the Amish.

No sooner do I write that I will never again post about the Ground Zero Mosque than “Red Eye” host Greg Gutfeld brings up the marginal topic absolutely no one in America is discussing.

On tonight’s show, guests Jill Dobson, Bill Hemmer and the absolutely hilarious Stephen Kruiser discussed Park51’s recent attack on an apparently Amish twitter user, which I wrote about yesterday. read more…
