Has Chris Matthews Lost that Lovin' Feelin’?

“This whole thing is starting to smell like the Clinton era.” -- Chris Matthews

Coming from a man who usually possesses the objectivity of a lovesick puppy when it comes to Obama, Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC’s Hardball sounded out of character when he barked at White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, accusing the president of hanging out with the rich cats, and smelling like a Clinton.

Matthews: “You’re a communications expert, I know it’s tough to have to defend the White House and speak the complete truth… It seems that this president has had to go to a lot of fund raisers lately. He’s played a lot of golf lately, he’s hung around with Geithner, and Summers, and the Paulson crowd. The whole New York rich guy scene; he’s beginning to look like a Clinton. He looks like a typical Democrat now. Hanging out, playing golf, going to rich people’s parties, bringing people in the White House to go bowling. I mean this whole thing is beginning to smell like the Clinton era. What happened to the change we believed in? I’m asking?”

“Power comes from the barrel of a gun.” — Mao Zedong

Tennis legend Andre Agassi admits to having used Crystal Meth; Paris Hilton considers herself a role model for young girls; and presidential adviser and communications director Anita Dunn tells high-school students that the communist mass murderer Mao Zedong is one of the two people she “turns to most” for political guidance. And to think, not too long ago, baseball legend Dizzy Dean was considered a poor role model for using the word “ain’t.”

The world may have changed immensely since the days of Dizzy Dean, but children and adolescents are still the same. They still need solid role models. They need something beyond themselves to reach for and to care about. And dare I say it? Yes, they need clear direction in choosing between right and wrong.

Dunn’s message was an abdication of her responsibility, as an adult, to provide some of that direction. She owes the parents of that class an apology, and she owes all Americans an explanation beyond the childish one she initially offered: “It was just a joke.” It is no joke to encourage young graduates — who surely are not cognizant of the unspeakable atrocities Mao committed — to revere and emulate the most prolific mass-murderer in human history simply because he “followed his own path.” read more…

Chris Matthews Does Not Understand the Military

2009 October 22

When my husband and I lived in West Berlin during the late 1970s, it was a common joke that if war broke out, the enemy would simply hang up POW signs. I really didn’t get the joke at the time. So my husband explained, “We are 110 miles inside communist country. All those armed guards stationed on the wall have to do is turn around and point their rifles toward our side.” Until that moment, I didn’t realize that the Berlin Wall was around us—not them.

My excuse for my simplistic view of the world was my youth. As a military wife living in an occupied city I caught on quickly–we weren’t in Kansas anymore.

The life of a soldier or police officer is so foreign to the Left that it falls into the Twilight Zone category. Chris Matthews, host of “Hardball” and Obama’s faithful shoeshine boy, proved that point in his recent interview with Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, when he asked Rhodes with a straight face, “What scenario do you live in?”

From the start, Matthews came at Rhodes, firing off statements and accusations disguised as questions.
