Geert Wilders Presents: 5 Steps Americans Must Take to Avoid the Fate of Islamized Europe

2011 May 20

Never before have I walked into a church to be greeted by a barrier of armed police with metal detector wands. Nor have I had to let officers open my purse to search for weapons before I could enter a sanctuary—that is, until now.

That was when Geert Wilders came to speak at Cornerstone Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He came to warn America, to warn Christians. He came to wake up the Bible Belt to the threat of Islam. But before a single word was spoken, these ominous signs foreshadowed the truth of what was yet to come.

Matt Lauer Suggests Arming al Qaeda Shows American “Compassion” For All

2011 April 30

This popular post was first published here on April 2, 2011.

Have you ever considered just how empty some of our parental directives actually are? With phrases like, “Words can never hurt you” or “Just ignore him, and he’ll leave you alone.” With a straight face, we give our hand-me-down wisdom with little thought to what we are saying– as the kid stares at us in utter disbelief. Even a child knows that’s a suicidal playground strategy.

In the grown up world, words can get you beheaded, and sharing can get you shot with your own gun. Nonetheless, in a jaw dropping display of leftist moral superiority (not to mention military ignorance) Matt Lauer, co-host of MSNBC’s TODAY, put a human face on the phrase “useful idiot” as he expounded on foreign policy.

“Baby Joseph” Ignites an International Health Care Debate

2011 March 1

The short 13 month life story of Joseph Maraachli (Baby Joseph) and his parents’ struggle to direct his care has become an international controversy. Some say it has exposed the underbelly of the Canadian healthcare system, and given parents in the US a peek into our future, as the value of little Joseph’s life has been weighed, measured and found wanting.

Although there is no exact diagnosis for the neurological deterioration Baby Joseph suffers from, the hospital claims that he is in a “complete vegetative state” with no chance of recovery. Therefore it petitioned the court to secure consent from his parents to remove the baby’s breathing tube and die shortly thereafter. After his parents refused to give their consent, the hospital has now offered to take the baby home, and then remove the tube. An offer his parents can not accept. The family wants the baby to have a tracheotomy, that could prolong his life up to six months, and allow them to take him home to die.

But is that a fair comparison to what we can expect if ObamaCare is fully implemented? While the Left is sure this story is just another trumped up scheme of FoxNews to advance the death panel meme, and claims it is nothing more than a pathetic attempt by pro-lifers to spin a family tragedy for political gain. They are assuring us that this could never happen in the US.

FoxNew’s Megyn Kelly asked Dr. Cathleen London if that could happen here, to which Dr. London assured her that could not happen in America. London asserts that the family’s wishes are absolutely allowable here in the US, if not common practice, therefore, this could never happen in America.

The Toronto Sun reports:

…Joseph’s doctors say while a tracheotomy — an incision is made in a patient’s airway, to help breathing — may prolong the baby’s life, it’s futile in this case and would likely cause much discomfort. It would certainly also increase the risk of infection and pneumonia, they argue.

The board agreed with Joseph’s attending doctor that the baby has ‘no hope or chance of ever recovering.’

‘While we feel a great deal of empathy for the parents, we held that their view was not in any way realistic,’ the board said, adding Joseph’s parents, ‘were blinded by their obvious love’ for their child.

The Canadian health care allocation officials have ruled the child is to be taken off his life support and “allowed to die at the hospital.”

The question is not whether or not the child will die. The question is simply, how will he die?  “Allowed” to die, as the hospital puts it, means withdrawing a breathing tube, and standing by and allowing him to die without intervention. The parents definition of allowing him to die, is giving him a few more months of life that a tracheotomy promises, and allowed to go home to die in their arms.

The problem is that he who writes the check, calls the shots. Here in the US, individuals still have the right to call the shots, whether it is by securing other means of payment or hiring another doctor.

Can this happen in the US? Of course it can.

HuffPo’s “Silencing Human Trafficking Victims in America” Gives the Human Traffickers a Free Pass

2011 February 12

This popular post was first published here on Feb. 8, 2011.

She sat in the corner, on the floor with her head hidden between her knees. As she wept, her arms trembled over her head. Her 10-year-old daughter stood by with her baby sister riding on her hip, ready to translate her mother’s Spanish sobs.

The young mother just couldn’t believe what had just happened. The man that she was living with, the father of her youngest child, had just beat her in a parking lot, in front of God, passers-by and her own children.

She, along with her two little girls had been brought to my doorstep by a police officer called to the scene of the crime. “My doorstep” was a safe house for women suffering from domestic violence. It was my shift. The thought of her being here illegally never crossed my mind–but she was.

Her oldest daughter spoke English without a trace of an accent. She seemed like a 20 year-old packed in a tiny 10 year-old frame. Her silky dark hair was long, down to her waist, just like her mother’s. Her sadness and concern seemed to make her brown eyes so much bigger than they really were.

As a domestic violence shelter, our job was to keep women safe, help them to heal and grow strong enough to stand on their own so that they were not dependant on the men that was abusing them.

Tiffany Williams, a social worker, wrote a column over at The Huffington Post entitled “Silencing Human Trafficking Victims in America” that serves as a veritable blueprint of the web Leftists spin for victims.

Williams writes:

Thanks to a wave of anti-immigrant proposals in state legislatures across the nation, fear of deportation and family separation has forced many immigrant women to stay silent rather than report workplace abuse and exploitation to authorities.

When the American Psychological Association recently recommended overhauling our detention centers and social service networks to better protect children and maintain family units, it acknowledged the widespread psychological trauma caused by immigration enforcement — including everything from infant developmental delays to dismal academic performance.

“Widespread psychological trauma … including everything from infant developmental delays to dismal academic performance” could be said of children of prisoners, drug addicts and alcoholics– just about any unstable home environment. However, the cause cited here is “immigration enforcement.”

“Immigration enforcement” is a term used by the indigenous people living in the dream world of the Left, it’s derived from their native language of Political Correctness. In the real America, at least where English is still spoken, “Immigration enforcement” would actually mean we would enforce immigration.

Politically Incorrect Parenting: Are You Raising a Leftist?

2011 February 5

This popular post was first published here on January 31, 2011.

What kind of parent are you?

Parents have traditionally been judged by their offspring in the context of their discipline style. Whether or not they were strict, or whether they were around to discipline at all. But have you ever thought of your parenting style as leaning conservative or liberal?

Conservative and liberal philosophies go much deeper than who you vote for. It is a lens by which the world around you is viewed, and how you react to people and to circumstances. Parenting is at its core, the act of passing down your values and preparing your children to enter into society as participating adults.

Let’s do a little situation ethics test and see where you fall.

Let’s say little Billy and Steve is sitting around the table, playing a game of “Sorry” while you, their mother sits close by.

Billy begins to cry. As a mother, you are naturally concerned and ask Billy why he’s crying. “Steve keeps bumping me out, he just keeps landing on me. He’s being mean.” Little Billy whines as he tucks his head down into the fold of his arm. “It’s not fair,” he continues to pout.

How would you react?

Which child needs the discipline? Is this small crisis in Billy’s life need of parental intervention, or guidance at all?

Do you:

A) Scold Steve for being “mean” to his little brother. Pointing to the fact that he is now crying, and his feelings are hurt.  Do you point out that he is little and it’s not fair that he should lose “all” the time?  Or point out to Steve that it is not more important to win, than to take care of his little brother?

B) Tell Billy to stop crying and blaming his brother for his misfortune. Explain to Billy “Sorry” is a game of chance. The playing field is even; there is no unfair advantage. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Encourage him to pick his chin up off the table, and keep trying. It’s not his brother’s “fault” that he lost the game.

Without thinking it through, most parents would simply react to the situation. Granted, it’s certainly the easiest route to simply glance over the computer screen and tell the children to “play nice” or you’ll put the game away.  However, effective parenting takes thoughtful action. Each answer holds with it a message for a young child.

Which action seems like the one you would choose?

If you chose A, to scold Steve the message is a potentially crippling one for both of the boys. You are punishing Steve for winning. The boys will walk through life excelling at some things, and failing at others. People around them will surpass them. How they react to these situations will determine, to some extent, not only their happiness, but also their own success.

In this scenario, not only is the winner not recognized for his winning, but is made responsible for his brother’s failure.  Guilt is misplaced, and a victim is hand crafted.

By choosing B, at first glance it seems to be cold. Images of parents of old telling little boys not to cry, to “buck-up” and be a man come to mind. Unnecessary harshness with no regard to the child’s feelings, or self-esteem haunt the corridors of the American parental psyche.

Read My Lips: Christianity Does Not Teach Socialism

2011 January 11

This post was first published on May 15, 2011 read it here complete with comments.

Hearing loss runs in our family. Two of my children, and three grandchildren have losses that range from a moderate loss to profoundly deaf. My oldest son has a “severe-moderate” loss, and learned to read lips early. You might be surprised to know that none of them consider themselves handicapped.

My oldest, as I mentioned, Chris, also learned early on that lip reading gave him an unique advantage in some situations—like the football field. He would look across the field and read the other coach’s lips, or who ever was calling the plays, then relay the information to his teammates.

Knowing the plays gave his team a, perhaps unfair, but clear advantage.

When you know the Left’s playbook, their tactics become obvious. When I read the HuffoPo piece “Sarah Palin Must Also Favor ‘Spreading the Wealth Around’” by Jonathan Weiler, it was like reading his lips in a huddle. “OK boys, Alinsky rule #4, ‘Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity’.”
