It’s hard to get past the condescension, I know. But as Bernard Goldberg explained in his 2001 book, Bias, media bias is essentially about arrogance. The media elite can’t conceive that there’s an alternative perspective in which to view a topic, particularly when it comes to women.

‘Most journalists I’ve spoken to are in such a fog they don’t even think of the National Organization for Women as a liberal special interest group,’ wrote Goldberg.

Media bias is also about the news that isn’t reported. Indeed, outlets like the New York Times routinely publish op-eds written by feminists and very rarely publish op-eds by non-feminists. That Stephanie Coontz’s book A Strange Stirring sits at #12 at Amazon’s “Bestsellers in Feminist Theory” while The Flipside of Feminism has held steady at or around #1 for weeks makes no difference to the MSM. That Coontz can end her diatribe by saying it’s “indisputable” that women’s lives “have improved since their supposed heydey in the 1950s” without being questioned by the editors at the New York Times shows just how committed the MSM is to the left-wing point of view. Had they done their research, they would have learned that the latest report from the National Bureau of Economic Research proves just the opposite.

And so, dear readers, be ever so grateful (and I know you are) for this new media we’ve created in America. If it weren’t for talk radio and the Internet, we would never know other writers and commentators exist.

To be sure, the feminist elite in America have the microphone. But nothing they say does any good for society. What a waste.

Suzanne Venker is co-author of the new book The Flipside of Feminism: What Conservative Women Know – and Men Can’t Say. Her website is www.suzannevenker.com.
