Obama’s continual damaging of US-UK relations has not been lost on the British. In the Daily Mail, Mary Ellen Synon wrote:

Obama is the first US president who was raised without cultural or emotional or intellectual ties to either Britain or Europe. The British and the Europeans have been so enchanted with  ‘America’s first black president’ that they haven’t been able to see what he really is: America’s first Third World president.

[...]

Obama has made it clear he despises both the US Constitution and the British tradition from which it springs.

Note Synon’s rather blunt reference to Obama’s third-world heritage. It has been speculated that Obama’s anti-British tendencies may have stemmed from his understanding of his anti-colonial Kenyan father. Stanley Kurtz has noted that the president’s politics may be “a shared ideology [that] might bind him more deeply to the father he never knew…”

In the Telegraph, Alex Singleton wrote:

We gave America years of unwavering support after September 11. And now we see how Barack Obama’s administration repays us.

First, Obama declared that America was “neutral” over the sovereignty of the Falklands, ignoring the clear wishes of the islands’ population. And, second, his Assistant Secretary of State, Philip Crowley, snubbed Britain by failing to use their proper name and instead calling them the “Malvinas”.

I don’t know where Obama learned about diplomacy, but his stinks. I’m normally pro-American, but Mr Obama’s seeming support for Argentinian aggressors, who have no legitimate claim over the Falklands, is gratuitously offensive.

So while the Left constantly cries like a broken record, falling all over itself to figure out why Muslims and other enemies of ours hate America, the de facto leader of the Leftists, President Obama, seems to be going out of his way to strain the “special relationship” that has lasted for centuries between the United States and Great Britain.

The man who promised to heal broken alliances and restore trust in America’s goodness seems to want to do so at the expense of our friendship with the British. His administration’s blatant disregard for the cultural and historical ties between the two nations — along with his political thumbs in the eye of our ally — has done damage that will take the next president a considerable amount of time to repair.

Here’s hoping it’s not too late. In the words of Alex Singleton:

If our American friends want to stop Obama shredding the respect the rest of the planet has towards America, they need to stop Obama’s destructive policies – and fast.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Maybe there’s hope for the “special relationship” after all.
