6 Historical Reasons Why The Muslim Brotherhood Must Not Be Allowed Into Power In Egypt

6. Their Recent Actions Prove That They Are Not Moderate.
Egypt has been an ally to Israel for nearly 35 years. It may be a threadbare, tenuous peace, but it nonetheless has been a peace. And it has meant that Israel had at least one neighbor that wasn’t bent on its destruction. However, with the delicate situation now taking place in Egypt, Israel has one more reason to be concerned: the prospect of any sort of Muslim Brotherhood power in Egypt.
My NewsReal Blog colleague Jeff Dunetz published a post just this week about recent threats against Israel on the part of the Muslim Brotherhood. In the post, Dunetz wrote:
If CNN and ABC were the only sources, one would think that the Muslim Brotherhood was an offshoot of the Boy Scouts of America, that they spend their days helping old Egyptian mummies cross the street.
Today those “Boy Scout” wannabes acted in a way that would surprised its network defenders.
Mohamed Ghanem, one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, calls Egypt to stop pumping gas to Israel and prepare the Egyptian army for a war with it’s eastern neighbor.
Speaking with Iranian television station Al-Alam, Mohamed Ghanem blamed Israel for supporting Hosni Mubarak’s regime. Ghanem also said that the Egyptian police and army won’t be able to stop the Muslim Brotherhood movement. There are doubts about the loyalty of the Egyptian army to president Mubarak. If the brotherhood takes control over Egypt, it will be very messy from the whole region.
The Muslim Brotherhood have not even taken power in Egypt. At this time, they’re still technically an illegal organization there, for crying out loud. Yet they’re already making threats and philosophically preparing for war with Israel. Statements like these threaten an already extremely shaky peace and damage what little stability is there in the Middle East. How seriously are we to take these threats? We don’t know, because as things stand right now, we have no idea how much power they would have under Muhammed El Baradei or any other leader. No matter who comes out on top in Egypt, we have plenty of reason to be concerned.

Here we’ve seen a few reasons why the Muslim Brotherhood must not have a seat at the table of power in the Egyptian government. We can see that, for 80-plus years, the Muslim Brotherhood have been willing to engage in violence and war to achieve their goal of Islamic control of the world. These are only a handful of reasons, and there are plenty more. I guarantee if you’ll take a little time to dig in, research, and read up on the Muslim Brotherhood, you’ll unearth more.
The Muslim Brotherhood are no mere band of religious purists. They are, rather, a dangerous group that threatens to destroy peace, freedom, security, and reasonable discourse throughout the world, all in the name of a frightening strain of radical Islam. They cannot be allowed to have any power in Egypt. They must be stopped.
