MSNBC pundit Lawrence O’Donnell got emotional on Friday while defending taxpayer funding of the largest abortion provider in America, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). In an attack on Senator John Kyl (R-AZ), O’Donnell offered nothing more than an anecdote and a pie chart in a segment entitled, remarkably, “Rewriting Lies on Planned Parenthood.” While the Left makes hay about Glenn Beck “crying on demand,” Lawrence O’Donnell gets a pass…and so does the cover-up of child sex trafficking at PPFA.
How can stone cold hearts produce such tears?
As a Classical Liberal, I could not bring myself to fault O’Donnell for attempting to make a moral case on an issue as such but, as is so often the case with leftists, his defense of PPFA requires moral bankruptcy. As one who values reason, I might give him credit if his statistics were correct, but they, too, are well off the mark. Because of these inconvenient realities (a.k.a. gaping holes), O’Donnell has no arrows remaining in his quiver to defend taxpayer funded abortion at PPFA except for makeshift tears shed over an anecdote ostensibly sent to him via email.
Since O’Donnell only has one anecdote and a pie chart, by his own admission, perhaps he hasn’t heard about the anti-parent mindset that permeates PPFA clinics and contibutes to their willingness to provide aid and comfort to child sex traffickers.
“The pattern in DC, just miles from Capitol Hill and the White House, is clear: presented with information that underage girls are being exploited for commercial sex, Planned Parenthood again shows its willingness to aid and abet sex traffickers,” said Lila Rose, President of Live Action. “An institutional crisis has consumed Planned Parenthood at the highest levels. The reason their story has changed five times in reaction to our investigation is because they know they’re guilty.”
“Sex trafficking in the U.S. has increased dramatically in recent years, and the pattern revealed by our investigation shows sex traffickers have no better friend than Planned Parenthood. Untold damage has already been done to countless girls and young women, whose safety and health are clearly at risk because organizations like Planned Parenthood provide confidentiality and safe haven for sex traffickers,” Rose said.
No tears for this, Mr. O’Donnell?
What you’ve just read here is not merely an anecdote but is backed up by actual footage at clinics across the country, and comes complete with testimonies of real cases of child sexual abuse cover-up by PPFA appearing on PPFA’s own website. There is also proof of racist policy, failure to report statutory rape, and of lying to women about pregnancy.
As a mother of two sons and two daughters, I will put my tears against Lawrence O’Donnell‘s any day of the week. What madness is it that allows one to demand (through tears?) that the American taxpayer fund an institution that has gone so far off the deep end in this debate? Can we really not agree that cover-up of child sex trafficking is grounds for ending taxpayer funding? Have we become so cold-hearted in America that we want to continue subsidizing abortions for victims of statutory rape?
If this is the case, Mr. O’Donnell, may God have mercy on your callous soul.
