At CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN there is neither word of the 69 churches, mostly Pentecostal, that were burned nor of the roughly 10,000 displaced Christians who, like the Christians in Iraq, are no longer safe in their own homes. Movement media is also silent as Daily Kos, The Nation, Mother Jones, Huffington Post and other leftist blogs say nothing.
The only mainstream media outlet reporting on the Christian crisis in Ethiopia is Fox News, and even there the coverage is not a leading story.
There is certainly much discussion on the Left regarding the topic of Islam, however. The meme in movement media is that conservatives are “bigots” because they “harm” Muslims with their speech about Islamic radicalism. Conservatives, we are told, are guilty of the crime of “Islamophobia.” Meanwhile, the Left fritters away their freedom of speech by going on the attack against devout Christians like evangelist Franklin Graham, Governor Mike Huckabee and others who try to warn of the dangers of radical Islam.
For those of us who have been paying attention to politics for many years, it is not at all a surprise to see that devout Christians like Graham and Huckabee are painted by the Left as the enemies of Islam. For decades, the Left has sought to marginalize Christians in our political discourse. Because Christians have for so long been considered enemies of the Left, it is not at all uncanny to see them ignoring church burnings and displacement of Christians in Ethiopia, brutalization of Christians in Egypt, genocide of Christians in Iraq, and even the murder of children like Adam of Baghdad.
The shedding of Christian blood by Muslims will not, and perhaps never will, permeate the consciousness of the unholy alliance bent on smearing Christians while defending Islam here in America.
Islamists are willing to destroy everything “Christian” in their path–and the Left could not be happier.
