With the beginning of the attacks on Libya we see the beginning of an “Obama Doctrine.” It hasn’t really been identified as such, but the outline has been formed. Based on what our President has done over the past few weeks we now know the United States will now intervene to protect citizens from harm in any military action. That intervention will not be based on what is necessary to protect American interest, but we will follow the lead of Europe, the United Nations and the Arab League.
As I write this the United States military is about to turn over command and control of the US operation in Libya to some sort of “political steering committee,” what ever that is. The truth behind this is that the President of the United States, who has built a reputation of “voting present,” in the Illinois State Senate, and not liking to get his fingers dirty in the stimulus, Obamacare, cap and trade, and budget battles is now also avoiding leadership in his role as Commander-in-Chief.
Obama’s “hands-off” protect the citizens, follow the lead of others doctrine may end up being used as an excuse for the world to attack Israel.
