That is if we shift the responsibility of risk over to the state rather than the individual. The Left loves to tout the plight of families that have the burden of sick children, and their need for relief from the high price of health care. But in reality, a loving family blinded by their love for their child, will put everything on the line in order to save the life of that child, or give him a fighting chance.

Can the state do that? No. Not only can it not, but the public support will become less compassionate. It’s already happening.

For example, in my grandfather’s generation, large families were respected. It was understood that the parents had to work hard to support them—nothing was handed to them. They earned their way, and the respect of the community for their hard work, dedication to their family and the sacrifices they made. The children they produced were considered a contribution to society.

This generation is viewed much differently. Children are not considered as a contribution, but rather as a liability. The environmental left considers more children to be contributing to the demise of the planet—and therefore society. This view has trickled over into the culture; children and people in general are now viewed as consumers– not producers.

How much more will this sentiment increase when we must collectively foot the bill? Who will happily give half their income to care for the masses while their own family struggles?

Human nature says you won’t. The natural order, the order of a healthy society, is one where families give their wealth and strength to their own children, to perpetuate the generations. One doomed to failure gives its wealth and strength to institutions, and the generations are culled.

The finest health care system in the world, as a free gift, bestowing its healing and human compassion upon the masses exists only in the fantasy world of the Left. In the real world, he who writes the checks writes the rules.
