What are most Americans doing during these tough economic times? Are they spending more than ever? No. According to CreditKarma.com:
…nationwide, the typical consumer cut their credit card debt by 8 percent over the course of the year to end at $7,404 in December.
We’re doing it. We’ve learned. We are living on less and we expect the same from Washington.
Much like its’ citizens, the government has to face the music now. We do have a lot that can be cut, and it doesn’t have to be the bare necessities like the police and fire departments being cut in some states. When we cut our budget at home, would we cut out our groceries to be able to keep cable TV? Of course not. The basic essentials are what we keep, and the basics are what the government needs to keep.
I think the American people are ready to see our government take at least as many steps as we have to eliminate the debt. We will not accept another “crisis” excuse to continue on this economically destructive path. We’d like to see a day coming when we can all make one, big collective phone call to the Dave Ramsey show and declare, “We’re debt free!”
