There is little doubt that America has become a culture of death.  Two of the most dangerous places to be are so-called women’s clinics and nursing homes.  We do not value life that is not at its prime.  So maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that a doctor was killing babies with scissors.  Maybe we should be surprised he’s actually been arrested for it.

On Wednesday an abortion doctor in West Philadelphia was charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors.  Dr. Kermit Gosnell has spent 30 years making millions of dollars off of poor minorities and immigrants.  What services did he offer?  Illegal late term abortions on babies 6-8 months into pregnancy.  And he did his work with unlicensed workers in what have been called “barbaric” conditions.

State regulators have ignored complaints on the doctor and his clinic since 1993.  Probably fearing pro-choice groups like NARAL, state officials turned a blind eye to illegal practices and now a woman and at least 7 birthed infants have been killed.  District Attorney Seth Williams said Gosnell:

[I]nduced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord.

The sick-minded doctor at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society is also being charged for murder in the death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar.  Mrs. Mongar died, according to the DA, on November 20, 2009 when she was

allegedly overdosed with anesthetics prescribed by Gosnell.

Gosnell has also been named in 10 other malpractice suits that include the death of another adult patient.  Moreover, 9 of Gosnell’s employees have also been arrested and charged, facing anything from conspiracy to murder.  Most of the employees were not medically trained.  Gosnell even had a high schooler giving anesthesia.

Descriptions of the doctor’s actions and his clinic have been called a “house of horrors”.

There were bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses were scattered throughout the building.  There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose. – Williams

Even so-called pro-choice folks understand how vile this clinic and this doctor was.  Some may even use the story to claim that similar clinics will exist if abortions are further regulated.  But that is a sick spin on a sickening story.  What we really should ask is: how are his acts of murder all that different than legal abortions?  I’m not talking about the unlicensed workers or unsterilized work environment.  I’m talking about the 7 acts of murder against those babies.  If Dr. Gosnell had simply cut those babies up inside of the womb instead of outside it, he would be considered a hero of the pro-abortion Left.

Maybe it’s time so-called pro-choice folks ask some serious and tough questions.  Why is taking scissors to a baby murder outside the womb but a cherished right seconds earlier inside the womb?  Why is Gosnell a twisted criminal while other abortionists are heralded heroes?  Let’s use this sad case to have a change of heart about this culture of death we’ve made.
