“Gender Neutral” Passports Reduce “Mother” and “Father” to Equivalent of “Thing One” and “Thing Two”

Posted on January 10 2011 1:00 pm

Rainbows, the word gay, and the color pink; these are just a few of the things that militant homosexual activists have stolen from the mainstream culture and remade in their own image. Militant homosexual activists have just won another major battle in the culture war and this one is truly shocking.

U.S. passport applications filed this year will no longer identify parents as ”Mother” and “Father” but as “Parent One” and “Parent Two.” With the stoke of a pen, the State Department has degraded marriage and parenthood to the level of Dr. Seuss’ “Thing One” and “Thing Two”.

According to the State Department, this epic change was made in order to:

provide a gender neutral description of a child’s parents and in recognition of different types of families.

Gender neutral? Last time I checked neutral genders didn’t produce babies. Unless there is some crazy, new, “Island of Dr. Moreau” kind of technology that I haven’t heard of, it STILL takes contributions from both the male and female genders to produce a child. I’m sorry to disappoint the militant activists, but you can perform any kind of word gymnastics you want, but two girls or two guys, even if they are in a “committed and loving relationship” can not produce a child; even if it’s in a test tube.

Ultimately, this is an attack on the institution of marriage. The State Department is playing the role of useful idiot for the militant homosexual agenda. These activists have coveted the title of “married” as validation for their lifestyle. “Domestic partnership” does not go far enough for the insatiable activist. It is clear that the militant homosexual community will not rest until they are recognized as equal participants in the institution of marriage.

This is another example of turning the meaning of a word on its head in order to force an agenda. Marriage, also known as matrimony, stems from the Latin words “matris” and “monium” which literally translates to “the office of mother.”  According to the definition, it is impossible for homosexual couples to be married because their union can not produce children. Rather than accept this reality, militant homosexual activists have decided to change the definition of the word to meet their purpose.

‘Changing the term mother and father to the more global term of parent allows many different types of families to be able to go and apply for a passport for their child without feeling like the government doesn’t recognize their family,’ said Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of Family Equality Council.

The State Department is undermining the already crumbling institution of marriage with this Progressive style attack. They are openly pushing the agenda of a special interest group through the use of Orwellian “new-speak.”

I long for the days when a rainbow will again symbolize God’s promise to never destroy the world through flood, and marriage will mean the promise between a man and woman to welcome the children that complete their family. ”Parent One” and “Parent Two” just like “Thing One” and “Thing Two” in Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” will cause nothing but trouble.

I fail to see anything "militant" or "activist" about a gay or lesbian couple adopting or conceiving a child and wanting legal rights as parents. They, like most people in this country, want families, and in the absence of a known biological parent, this gives them the power to be their children's legal guardians. It is no different from heterosexual couples who do the same.

What if a child's biological parents are unknown? Do adoptive parents have no right to list themselves as parents because they aren't biologically related? If a heterosexual couple has a child through a surrogate, does that mean they don't have the right to list themselves as the parents?

The change in language solves these problems for both gay and straight couples who adopt, conceive via in-vitro fertilization, or use a surrogate mother.

@ sandy23185 you missed the point. You may want t o reread the article again. The point is not against adoption or other forms of parenting. She is pointing out the attack on the the biological FACT that it does indeed take a female and a male to make a baby. The government is making the world gender neutral to fit what the gay and lesbian community want. I bet the same people fighting so hard for this are the same people who want an equal number of women or gay people in the senate. It suits them to be "gender neutral" here but if it comes to an equality issue for women or gays in,lets say,the military then it is ok to use gender. Why not keep the lingo and havae each homosexual parent check mother and mother or father and father. I mean if the G/L community is so offended by the terms mother and father then maybe we should go and change the terminology of the books "I Have Two Mommies" and "I Have Two Daddies" to " I Have Two Parents".That sounds even and fair to all. You may want to take your gender-neutral-politically-corect-to-the-end-global-niceness-to-all glasses off and try to see what is really going on here!!

You miss the point of the post Sandy, you can not REMOVE gender from the issue. It is not possible. This is a rejection of reality for political purposes. Personally, I am tired of making laws for the exceptions. There are more mothers and fathers who will feel harmed than in-vitro using double moms and double dads. The exception should never be the rule. Adopted moms and dads will have NO problem with the gender rule- this is only for gay couples.

I think it's a rejection of reality to think that gay parents don't exist. Over 150,000 children in this country are being raised by same-sex couples and THAT is reality. Legal records need to be accurate, and the change to the passport forms makes them more accurate.

If anything, leave two blanks, so people can fill in "mother" and "father" or "father" and "father". Whatever.
