The anti-pork, anti-tax-hike, anti-IRS, anti-Fed libertarian Congressman Ron Paul has a dirty little secret: he is a pork-spending bureaucrat who stuffed the latest, and now defunct, $1.3 trillion dollar Omnibus bill with $8 million dollars in earmarks.  This should come as no surprise to anyone who looks at these bills.  Ron Paul has snuck pork into already inflated stimulus packages American taxpayers and the country cannot afford.

Paul, who demands every earmark must be examined with absolute transparency, condemns other leaders for attaching earmarks to bills, unless the earmarks are his and go to his Texas district.  Paul’s reasoning behind his past tax-raising earmarks is:

The principle of the earmark is our [Congressional] responsibility. We’re supposed to—it’s like a tax credit.  And I vote for all tax credits, no matter how silly they might seem.  If I can give you any of you of your money back, I vote for it.  So, if I can give my district any money back, I encourage that. But, because the budget is out of control, I haven’t voted for an appropriation in years—if ever. …I don’t think the federal government should be doing it. But, if they’re going to allot the money, I have a responsibility to represent my people.  If they say, hey, look, put in a highway for the district, I put it in.  I put in all their requests, because I’m their representative.

So, Paul says no matter how “silly” the bill, earmarks are okay so long as they suit Ron Paul.  Paul slams excess government spending, yet spends taxpayers’ dollars and allows the deficit to grow if it benefits his district and gets Mr.Term Limit reelected.  That’s what this is really about and makes Ron Paul no different than those he condemns as over-spenders.

The latest Omnibus Bill was condemned by Ron Paul, who told Fox Business’ David Asman:

It shows how rather inept we in how we mange government…it’s a couples bucks involved, trillions of dollars, thousands of pages none of us will probably ever read…it’s just outrageous, it’s so symbolic of big government and government out of control, spending out of control and this is our problem…evidently those in charge still haven’t gotten the message…

Someone has read the bill Ron darling, and found you to be porking it up like Harry Reid.  The underhanded slickness of “Dr. No” was caught by Cox Radio WSBRadio.com host Jamie Dupree, who did take the time to read the earmarks attached to the mega bill.
