Today, about 90% of Americans can be grateful for at least one thing:  They are smarter than Whoopi Goldberg.

Not that that’s setting a high bar.

Here are 3 classics of stupidity from one interview with Bill O’Reilly– the much hyped follow-up to her temper tantrum during O’Reilly’s View visit.

GOLDBERG: 1. On Pearl Harbor: “The Japanese —army attacked us.” (don’t say the Japanese!)

2. On whether the terrorist problem is a Muslim problem:  “Two years ago, it was the white people that were the terrorists… Oh, wasn’t it white people that blew up Oklahoma City?”

3. On a new FBI study stating the obvious, that Jews are more persecuted than Muslims: “I’m sure that someone believes that, but I believe that in neighborhoods where they don’t want Muslims, they beat up kids.”

No Whoopi, they aren’t laughing with you…

Let’s go to the highlights, courtesy of the Media Research Center:

O’REILLY: I’m not painting all Muslims with one brush.

GOLDBERG: But when you say Muslims killed us, when you don’t specify. It’s like saying whenever I see black men coming down the street, I’m scared. That’s the same —

O’REILLY: Do you have a problem in history when you were taught about World War II that Japanese attacked us? Do you have a problem with that?

GOLDBERG: I have a problem with that.

O’REILLY: Do you?

GOLDBERG: Yes.

O’REILLY: But they attacked us?

GOLDBERG: The Japanese —

O’REILLY: Attacked us.

GOLDBERG: — army attacked us.

O’REILLY: The air force did.

GOLDBERG: Sorry, the air force did. You understand my point?

Okay, not to be too technical here, and it’s beside the point, but you are both wrong.  It was the Japanese Imperial Navy.  You know, aircraft carriers…?  Admiral Yamamoto?  (There was no Japanese “Air Force,” just like there was no U.S. Air Force until after WWII.)

In fact, I think the Japanese Imperial Army should be mightily offended at being painted with Whoopi Goldberg’s broad brush.  How dare she lump them in to the attack on Pearl Harbor?  They were busy occupying China after raping Nanking!

Next: Was O’Reilly too nice?
