That whole View show is an exercise in high school style gossip mongering and "mean girl" rhetoric in the extreme. It makes me sick that such stupid silly women pose as the opposite of intelligent, well informed, and worth listening to. Yuck. Even that Hasselbeck woman was snickering when Behar dropped the b word, rather than standing up to those hacks; granted she's outnumbered, and, like in high school, wants to be "liked", I presume, but the whole show is a joke.

Thank you for doing this backgrounder, so we wouldn't have to — watch her, that is. A monster who denigrates her own Italian-American roots while lobbying unpleasantly to belong to other groups she deems desirable and superior: I wouldn't wish her on them, either.

It's always a hierarchy of identities for these shrill liberals. Their own racisms and expressions of elitism have always been the cornerstone and obsession of their politics, as is painfully demonstrated here. So what happens when this ceases to work? When people find the courage to push back against such genuinely hateful world views? I'm seeing more shrillness, more rage, more accusation among many (not all) of the liberals I regularly encounter in my very small town.

But what's interesting to me is that I'm also hearing something different from others — a new willingness to consider viewpoints they would have simply refused to tenor a few years ago. Something new is taking hold, and I attribute it to the extremely local effects of the tea party. When the person next door is talking to you, it is difficult to vilify them. This is the way the Joy Behars of the world became smaller and less relevant.

It must be awfully terrifying for her to lose traction that way. Soon only dogs will be able to hear her shreiking.

LOVE this article! We homeschool our kids and if being an intelligent, respectful, thoughtful kid is considered "demented" these days, we're all over that.
