8. The Weather
A classic explanation trotted out to explain low voter turnout; and while there’s historical evidence that bad weather suppresses Democratic voting relative to Republican voting, bad weather (wherever it occurs on Tuesday) can’t explain the magnitude of the thumping Democrats are about to receive. This is especially true, given the trend of early voting sweeping the country, which allows people to vote days or weeks before the election, and the enormous, taxpayer-funded get-out-the-vote efforts orchestrated by left-wing organizations such as the Service Employees International Union. Watch for mentions of the lingering effects of the violent storms that tore through the Midwest—last week—to be cited as a reason for low Democratic turnout.
