Hot Air reports that the notoriously progressive Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, may resign if the Republican Party takes back the House of Representatives during Tuesday’s elections.

Although Pelosi publicly says she expects Democrats to hang on to a small majority in Congress, Republicans and her rivals in the Democratic Party smell blood. Polls have made it crystal clear in recent weeks that there’s no chance whatsoever of Democrats limiting the damage – not in Congress, at least. They are going down, and most of them know it. Many believe Pelosi has hurt Democrats’ chances this year by refusing to negotiate with her Republican counterpart. Little wonder then that reports are surfacing saying Pelosi is considering quitting; not only as the leader of the Democrats in the House, but even as congresswoman.

Pelosi is a darling of the Left, but hated by virtually everyone else. She’s as progressive a Democrat as they come; many believe she’s one of the main reasons Washington D.C. is as polarized as it is. Consequently, there will be few who’ll regret her stepping down from her position.
