“…everyone is finally equal… The strong wear weights, the beautiful wear masks and the intelligent wear earpieces that fire off loud noises to keep them from taking unfair advantage of their brains. It is a poetic tale of triumph and tragedy about a broken family, a brutal government, and an act of defiance that changes everything.”

2081 is a captivating film based on Kurt Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron. This masterpiece couldn’t have come in a better time. The tale is about an America where everyone is finally equal. Where excellence and the exceptional are punished. Where the extraordinary is to be hidden through the full power of the State. Here’s the trailer:

In the movie we see a heroic man rebel against the unjust system. Best described in his own words:

“My name is Harrison Bergeron. I am a fugitive and a public threat. I am an abomination of the able. I am an exception to the accepted. I am the greatest man you have never known. And for the last six years I have been held prisoner by the state, sentenced without trial, to torture without end.”

“They had hoped to destroy any trace of the extraordinary in me, and in  time I came to share that hope. But the extraordinary, it seems, was  simply out of their reach.”

The movie shows the logical conclusion and the true evil of what leftist Egalitarian crusaders are advocating. Politically speaking, this type of hatred for excellence is already well entrenched in the “progressive” world. Progressive Taxation for instance, where men are punished and looted, for no sin other than being productive human beings. Or Anti-Trust suits where one is punished for being too good.

The goal of today’s advocates for “equality” is no longer that of equal rights under the law. But of equal outcome. And by that, they mean to equalize us all downwards.

2081 is an absolutely beautiful film with a great story and a superb cast of actors. It is also a chilling warning of what the future might look like if we continue to allow the Egalitarian onslaught to continue unchallenged.
