Opponents of Obamacare should take heart. The Left is clearly nervous about the unpopularity of their scheme and the calls still reverberating to repeal and replace it. Otherwise, why would they spend good money producing a YouTube video staring Hollywood celebrities to promote a bill which is already law?

The advocacy organization Health Care for America Now (HCAN) recently posted the video featuring Jack Black as Nathan Spewman, a professional liar who goes undercover as an eight-year-old at an elementary school to spread “misinformation” about Obamacare at the behest of “greedy corporations.” America Ferrera plays the teacher of the class he infiltrates.

It’s no Drunk History, but showcases Black’s typical cartoonish form. It also stands as a blistering insult to the intelligence of its intended audience.

At one point, Spewman retreats to the school’s bathroom to phone in a progress report to his evil corporate masters.

Take it from me. My word is gold. These kids are idiots. They think cartoons are real. Pokemon is like a documentary to them.

Since the object of this video is to affect opinions toward Obamacare, its producers clearly regard their audience as Spewman regards his classmates. They think their audience is idiotic, ready to accept as poignant the implications made in a cartoonish script.

The video has Black’s Spewman repeat well-known statements in opposition to Obamacare. Since we know him to be a liar, Spewman imbues the points with an air of falsehood. In this way, HCAN employs ad hominem attacks without the need to attach an actual person to the arguments they oppose.

Along with combating calls for the repeal and replacement of Obamacare, HCAN seeks to expand the role of government even further than the current law.

Specifically, HCAN supports a “single payer” model where the federal government would be in charge of financing and administering the entire U.S. healthcare system. HCAN’s strategy is to achieve such a system incrementally, first by implementing “the public option”—i.e., a government insurance agency to “compete” with private insurers, so that Americans will be “no longer at the mercy of the private insurance industry.” Because such a government agency would not need to show a profit in order to remain in business, and because it could tax and regulate its private competitors in whatever fashion it pleased, this “public option” would soon force private insurers out of the industry.

In other words, they are socialists. You have to wonder how idiotic HCAN must think its viewers are if they expect them to accept Black as the paid spokesman of a nefarious organization without realizing he actually is the paid spokesman of a nefarious organization.
