First there was the sharp leftward turn, then came the swerve back to sanity. Now, the Right Scoop has the…uh, scoop…on Kirsten Powers’ most recent “Hannity” appearance, in which the pendulum of Powers’ political sensibilities swings back to left-wing apologetics. It seems that Sean and the rest of his Great American Panel were too “mean” to the poor Chrysler union employees who got caught boozing and lighting up while on break:

POWERS: You just got all these people fired, basically. These are people with families […] I just think it’s a double-standard because I know what goes on on Wall Street, I know how much drinking-

HANNITY: So they should be given a pass.

POWERS: No, I think you should – I just think it’s weird that like, why are you picking on the working class people versus the people down on the Wall Street.

HANNITY: We paid to bail them out!

POWERS: Didn’t we bail out the banks? Same thing!

I’d transcribe more of the discussion, but the stupidity is just too much to handle in concentrated doses. Good Lord, where to begin?

First, Hannity didn’t get anyone fired. USA Today reports that Chrysler saw the local Fox affiliate’s video before it hit the airwaves, and they weren’t amused, suspending several of the workers without pay immediately and releasing this statement:

“I’m very, very disturbed about what I just saw in the video and I want to make it clear that we at Chrysler take it very seriously,” said Scott Garberding, senior vice president of manufacturing. “For us this behavior is totally unacceptable and will be dealt with swiftly.”

Now why do you think Chrysler finds this unacceptable, Kirsten?
