Fox News’ so-called liberal correspondent and weekend anchor Geraldo Rivera just celebrated his fortieth year in journalism. Based on his performance on his Saturday night show “Geraldo At Large,” it is time for him to call it quits.

Actually, it is long past time,  given his past stunts. Remember, for example, when he  hosted and narrated the excavation of Al Capones’s secret tomb that turned out to contain nothing but dirt?  But his Saturday performance takes first prize.

Pamela Geller, who had just successfully pulled off a massive rally in lower Manhattan protesting the Ground Zero mosque, was invited to appear on Geraldo’s show to discuss the rally. However, it was a set up. He called Geller an extremist and had her on alongside  race baiter Malik Shabazz of the New Black Panther Party to represent what Geraldo called the two extreme sides of the argument.

Before even starting this “debate” between the two “extremists,” Geraldo tried to trivialize the rally against the Ground Zero mosque by lowballing the estimate of its size. I was at the  rally. There were thousands of people there – not counting some of the intruders from the pro-Ground Zero mosque rally who tried to disrupt the proceedings.

While Pam Geller tried to calmly explain to Rivera why she believed that the Ground Zero mosque was part of a concerted effort to Islamicize America – which Rivera repeatedly interrupted with rude sarcastic remarks – Malik Shabazz ranted on about America’s alleged crimes including the theft of land from native Americans.

When Pam Geller said that Daisy Khan, Imam Rauf’s wife, had been the one who said that the mosque would break ground on September 11, 2011, Geraldo responded by asking her sarcastically if she was saying this was some big conspiracy. What on earth was he talking about? All that Geller was referring to was the public announcement, reported in the Daily News and USA Today, that the builders of the Ground Zero mosque would break ground on September 11 of next year.

Pam Geller could barely get a word in edge-wise while the New Black Panther race-baiter got airtime to spew his nonsense.

Here is what Geller said on her blog after she left the scene of what she rightly called a hit job:
