It’s easy to draw a line between right and wrong in an action movie, but you are misled if you think the world works the same simple way. The world is not black and white, and most everyone and everything in it falls into an inconsistent pattern between the moral extremes that Hollywood blockbusters and your politicizing of those movies try to establish.

“Drawing a line” and “defeating evil” makes fine political rhetoric (and work just as well as heroic one-liners and poster catchphrases), but those phrases are ultimately just as empty and one-dimensional as any good guy hero or totally evil villain. And somewhere in that shade of gray, between what you and I cannot agree on, and which no line could ever accurately divide, is something called compromise.

"Taken" has become one of my favorite movies. One of the compelling things about this movie isn't just the Brian Mills character relentlessly taking out the trash as he searches for his daughter, it's the portrayal of certain enablers (like the corrupt French police official) as villains as well.

I disagree a bit with "24." The Jack Bauer character, as developed over the first two seasons of the show, was everything described in this article. The problem became, in my view, the show's writers' preoccupation with this politically correct "enemy within" garbage. By the last few seasons, this trend overshadowed Jack's character, and made the show trite, tedious and cliched. I was a big fan at first, then eventually gave up for largely this reason.

IMHO you forgot one of the best...300! This movie took an unyielding stand against tyranny to a very satisfying extreme. Many parallels to today's political and wartime climate were referenced in 300. I call it one of my top ten favorites of all time!!
