Despite some calls to isolate Iran in the wake of its disputed presidential election, they have in fact doubled down on attempting to engage with Iran.
See above. They expect “engagement” with people who are probably funding the murder of American troops and Middle Eastern civilians to bear much fruit?
They’re not backing off of Middle East peace.
Oh? So they’re willing to stand with Israel and demand that the Palestinians reject jihad in general and Hamas in particular? They’re going to stand up to those who condemn Israel for simply defending herself? Uh…not exactly.
The administration knows some of us think it’s trying to do too much. And it doesn’t care.
It’s not exactly a shock that Team Obama doesn’t care what anyone else thinks, but it is interesting to note just how fully the mask has slipped from when Obama was playing the Great Uniter, who in The Audacity of Hope wished that George W. Bush’s would be “less committed to waging a perpetual campaign,” seeing his narrow victory as a “call to humility and compromise rather than an irrefutable mandate.” Sadly, Obama noted, from his predecessor there “would be no concessions, no gestures of goodwill.”
Given the reality of the current administration thus far, I hope I’ll be forgiven for not going out of my way to applaud just because a member of Obama’s cabinet inserted a few good lines into a speech.
