I'd hardly consider Clint Eastwood as a conservative. His movies reflect common liberal values and negative stereotypes of America and Americans. Flags of Our Fathers focused heavily on racism against Ira Hayes and the idiotic Gran Torino depicted the typical American blue collar worker as a low IQ bigot. Unforgiven portrayed the American cowboy as little more than a violent moron.

There goes this site yet again, missing how Eastwood is not really Conservative. Gran Tourino is quite anti-conservative. His character is a product of Liberal America, and his children and his grandchildren are caught up in the greed of the post-Reagan America, he in effect disowns them because they no longer stand for Liberal America and pursue and mistaken idea of what it means to be American.

"His critically acclaimed 2004 feature Million Dollar Baby exemplifies this well, ending up as something of an after-school special advocating assisted suicide."

When I read a comment like this I have to wonder if anyone actually saw this movie. "Million Dollar Baby" had no more to do with assisted suicide than it had to do with boxing. The movie had two themes, two questions actually. "What makes life worth living?" and "What price are you willing to pay to protect someone you love?"

The first question is answered clearly and simply - What makes life worth living is doing the things you love. Both trainer Frankie Dunn and boxer Maggie Fitzgerald learn to love life.

Dunn has continuous conversations with a priest who is also a long time friend. Near the end of the film when Dunn (Eastwood) is contemplating helping Maggie end her now purposeless and painful existence, his priest makes it clear that Dunn will not only be damned in the next world, but in this one as well. His life will never be the same, he will never know happiness again.

Dunn pays that price to relieve Maggie's suffering. What price are you willing to pay for someone you love?

Does torture in this world and the next sound like advocating assisted suicide to you?

Expelled is my personal favorite. Brainwashed and sometimes brain dead is the only place we are allowed. We should intellegently design our own schools and universities with laws built into the foundations for real purposeful evolving. Darwin should be taught, of course, but intellegent design should be taught as well. Why are they so afraid? It is because they want us all to be good little robots.
