Chris Korzen, Executive Director of the George Soros-connected fake Catholic organization Catholics United (CU) may have finally bitten off more than he can chew. On Friday, he announced that CU is going into the news business and will, among other things, be “reporting on the activities of Catholic News Agency (CNA) and EWTN.” Korzen vs. Mother Angelica? What is this man thinking?

While CNA is pretty much a straight news organization for Catholics, Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) will be quite a bigger fish for Korzen to fry. TIME Magazine has called EWTN’s foundress, Mother Angelica, an “improbable superstar of religious broadcasting and arguably the most influential Roman Catholic woman in America.” Korzen is on the other end of the spectrum from Mother, however.

While at Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, [Alexia] Kelley teamed with Catholics United leaders, James Salt and Chris Korzen, in the 2008 campaign to neutralize the abortion issue by casting it in pro-Democratic Party terms.

No one does more to bring the message of true Catholicism to America than Mother Angelica and EWTN, so in a sense it’s understandable that one of the most fraudulent “Catholic” organizations ever would go on offense against the saintly nun and her mega-media enterprise. Taking on Mother Angelica, however,  is no small task. Stories abound about her “valiant witness.” In a recent program on EWTN, Fr. Mitch Pacwa related how Mother’s mere presence in her habit at a cable media event impacted scantily clad female dancers hired by the Playboy Channel. Before the day was over, some of the women approached Mother and asked her for rosary beads.

The Playboy Channel, unlike CU, makes no claims to Catholicism which makes this encounter quite a different problem for Mother Angelica and CNA. Will Catholics be fooled by the word “Catholic” in Korzen’s organization? Another problem is that both EWTN and CNA are funded primarily by donations of their viewers and readers, respectively. Both are 501(c)3 organizations while CU is a 501(c)4 organization, free to hide donor names so that they can do the “edgy work” of peddling dissent for the Democratic Party.

I don’t know about you, but I’m putting my money on Mother Angelica to win this battle.
