Jews have always geared towards the Left politically because of assimilation and identity issues. This has always been quite mind-boggling since the Left is known for their views about the creation of a Palestine and a two state solution for “peace”. As Norman Podhoretz, author of Why are Jews Liberals? explains,

“Jews’ political behavior continues to contradict many common place assumptions-that people tend to vote for like their pocket books- we are forced to conclude that in continuing to vote for the Democrats, Jews in the last few decades have been voting against their self-interests.”

Having a few “so-called liberal” Jewish friends, I have always questioned them about why they are for a separation of Israel. Their responses vary based on knowledge of Israel’s history and how extreme they are politically. The common answer I get is, “I support a two-state solution for peace in the middle east.” This answer makes me wonder how they expect “peace” with enemies whose overall goal is to destruct our population. Even back in elementary school, would you share a cookie with a classmate you knew you didn’t get along with? This logic seems quite simple.

Being the curious person that I am, I decided to approach the woman that was covered in a black sheet who wore a red Kabbalah bracelet on her right wrist. I asked her about why she was wearing the bracelet if she called for a Palestine? She started trying to attack me with hateful slurs and offensive comments which made the police ask me to go back to my side of the street. This was the first time I experienced anti-Semitism; the sad part is that it came from a fellow Jew.
