1) Julian Assange Gets Whipped by Stephen Colbert.
Don’t screw with the troops or you screw with Stephen Colbert. Seriously, the guy is patriotic. He did his show with the soldiers in Iraq, where his head was shaved. And on September 8 and 9, he’s doing another special for veterans and soldiers called “Been There, Won That: The Return of the American-Do Troopscape.” Colbert, even though he opposes the war in Iraq, is actually praising the troops for coming home victoriously. He isn’t mocking the victory or what they’ve helped make happen. His jokes may criticize Bush’s policies on Iraq, but it’s not done in a way that’ll discourage the troops or make them feel like their sacrifices were pointless. That, my friends, is the right way to oppose the war and support the troops.
You can practically smell Colbert’s dislike for Julian Assange and his release of a selectively-edited video that makes it seem like our troops in Baghdad are blood-thirsty barbarians. And he kicked his ass for it.
