Tip to all aspiring drug smugglers: Don’t try to through Israeli El Al security. You will go down in flames.

For those of you who haven’t traveled to Israel, you may not know the boot camp that is El Al. You are interviewed (more like grilled) and if you fail miserably as I did, it’ll happen again. I actually had both my bags taken from me and told to come back in an hour and a half for a third interview, after which security personnel escorted me to the plane and I was not allowed to leave their side. That’s what life is like when radical Islam makes you its #1 target and has chosen a parking spot in your next door neighbors’ yards.

But, it was all worth it. A pretty girl going on Birthright sat next to me on my plane and in typical female fashion, was able to talk long enough to shave off a few hours off my 10 hour flight. And now, I am sitting in a pretty sweet four-bedroom apartment in Jerusalem (I took photos but unfortunately they are too large to upload) with the other three bloggers with a full refrigerator, food, alcoholic beverages, a flat-screen HDTV, DVD player and stereo. Party on, Garth.

Today we were interviewed by Ynet News and Israel Today and now we’re off to the International Arts and Crafts Festival. Hopefully, I’ll have some video blogs for you in the coming days.
