Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson has declared war on the Obama administration and the leftists who have hijacked his beloved party. He has announced that he will vote against the radical leftist nominee for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan.

The Nebraskan’s announcement (made on his website yesterday) makes him the first Democrat to openly break with his president on this issue.

Nelson says he’ll vote against Kagan because his constituents have asked too many questions about her. They are, the senator says, clearly worried. He feels he can’t take those concerns away because of Kagan’s lack of a judicial record.

Although Kagan will undoubtedly be confirmed, Nelson’s opposition to her is significant nonetheless. It spells trouble for the White House and Democrats’ leaders in Congress. Many senators and representatives know they can’t afford to back the Obama agenda if they want to keep their jobs. Expect more of them to break with Obama in the coming months (before the November elections).

And if Democrats lose the elections as big as many think, well, expect even more rebellions in the final two years of the Obama administration.
