From the catechism: 2425 The Church has rejected the totalitarian and atheistic ideologies associated in modem times with “communism” or “socialism.” She has likewise refused to accept, in the practice of “capitalism,” individualism and the absolute primacy of the law of the marketplace over human labor. Regulating the economy solely by centralized planning perverts the basis of social bonds; regulating it solely by the law of the marketplace fails social justice, for “there are many human needs which cannot be satisfied by the market.” Reasonable regulation of the marketplace and economic initiatives, in keeping with a just hierarchy of values and a view to the common good, is to be commended.

Prior to this definition, I had emphasized the fact that community organizers use provocation tactics against the private sector even as we live in a country with representative government and even when there are existing laws in place which they could appeal to for remedy. I had also noted that this is in contrast to the TEA Party movement which petitions the government, which is how non-Marxists do things here in America.

It should escape the attention of no one, but particularly the Catholic Faithful, that the USCCB quoted Vatican II in reply to my clear and civil explanation of how CCHD‘s community organizing activities fall under the definition of Marxism. Rather than responding with an argument attempting to explain that this community organizing is not, in reality, Marxist in nature, the USCCB silenced me by making it now impossible for me to post a reply on their page as they quoted Vatican II.

Are we to understand from this that the USCCB believes Vatican II did away with Rerum Novarum and that it opened up the Church to the practice and advancement of Marxism in “defense of the poor”? Are the Catholic Faithful now to sit down and shut up while the USCCB, through CCHD, funds Marxism of the Alinsky model in the name of “defending the poor”?

This Catholic has no intention of doing that, dear bishops. I will continue to speak out and to pray for your understanding so that we may forge peace in America for the common good by rejecting Marxism and all its fateful lies.
