I just found something that might be relevant: check out this facebook site, look at the logo: doesn’t that look like a stylized star & crescent? It says that Davis & Langdon “had assisted Paul Murdoch Architects in complete design stage cost consulting beginning with the master plan of the memorial’s design.”

Good analogy Max, but when it comes to raising questions about the integrity of another human being, I don't think we can afford to go about it 'trial-and-error' style. I may not know Paul Murdoch, but based on his design for this memorial, I don't like him one bit. Nevertheless, he's a human being and I owe it to him, myself, and everyone else, to get my facts right.

I'm really glad you called this to my attention. In my on-going frustration at the direction this country is taking, I've become a bit of a "shoot from the hip" kind of commentator. It's time for me to engage in a little introspection…and be a little bit more circumspect in what I offer up. What I know I know…and it's no-holds-barred. What I'm not absolutely sure about, I'm going to try to employ a greater degree of qualification.

Apologize? Keep those mistakes coming! Constuction is messy and chaotic (look at a typical construction site). That goes for intellectual construction as well: think of how much worthless stuff has to be published (and praised, and admired) before any important new insight can make it through that jungle alive.

Actually, a typical construction site might look messy and chaotic to me, but the construction people I'm sure have an established procedure of how to do it, so this analogy might not work for them. I now think the whole analogy is no good. What I'm trying to say is, if you're attempting to do something that is difficult, it is unavoidable that there be mistakes: "mis-takes", like when they make a movie: but the director doesn't shut down the movie, instead he does another take, and another.

I distinctly remember reading that he had designed a major mosque on the Arabian Peninsula prior to the Flight 93 design…but, like you, I can't find anything about it.

Getting the facts right is an indispensable part of maintaining the integrity of any narrative. I think it imperative that we conservatives acknowledge our mistakes when we make them (which helps distinguish us from the Left). Besides, basic fairness transcends political argument and goes to the heart of human ethics.

If anyone can locate evidence that Paul Murdoch designed one or more mosques in the Muslim world, please bring it to our attention. Until then, I retract my charge and sincerely apologize for the mistake.

In that video, he is not very revealing in any way, more the opposite, he is so reserved that you can't "read" him at all.

Yeah, The Bio of Paul Murdoch on the http://www.honorflight 93.com says that Paul Murdoch is currently working on an expansion in Bel Air,CA for the University of Jerusalem. He has worked on the Staples Center and Getty Center it says but doesnt mention mosques.

Now the memorial is under construction. Soon the 40 heroes will be strung like fish beneath an Islamic crescent pointing to the Islamic heavens (the "Tower of Voices" part of the memorial). The family members have no problem with that. They like the Tower of Voices (and the rest of the design). And people think: "if it's okay with them, then it's okay with me, who am I to argue and stir up trouble and aggravate their pain". But these are two different things: you can't let the feelings of the family members decide what is and is not contained in the design for the memorial! But nobody gets that. Or nobody wants to get it.

This whole saga about the Flight 93 memorial has been a learning experience for me. The arguments by Alec Rawls are vastly more persuasive to me than the arguments of the memorial supporters (for one thing, he shows and demonstrates, while all they bring to the table is denial). And yet, nobody wants to listen to Alec Rawls, including the family members! (exception: Tom Burnett Sr). What is the lesson here? I'm still not sure. Nobody wants to go against the family members, that is why no big-name conservative pundit will touch this story (Michelle Malkin talked about it in 2005, but quickly dropped the subject). Tom Tancredo called attention to it at one time, but he, too, has withdrawn from the subject. It is as if facts don't matter if the majority of the family members ignore them.
