Clinton appointee Judge Susan Bolton added her name to the growing list of Obama’s flunkies. In the lawsuit filed by Eric Holder‘s Department of Justice against the state of Arizona’s enforcement of SB 1070 Bolton handed the administration a victory today.

Bolton blocked four key sections of the law from being enforced:

Immigrants will not have to carry documentation at all times; undocumented workers can solicit for employment in public places; police officers are not required to check immigration status of those stopped or arrested on suspicion of committing a crime and are not allowed to make warrantless arrests based on the criminals immigrant status.

A spokeswoman, Hannah August, for the Justice Department  said that the court “ruled correctly” and issued this statement  on behalf of  Eric Holder:

While we understand the frustration of Arizonans with the broken immigration system, a patchwork of state and local policies would severely disrupt federal immigration enforcement and would ultimately be counterproductive.

Rep. Luis Gutierrez D-Ill, “applauded the decision” of Judge Bolton.

The 55% of Americans who stand behind Arizona, the law enforcement officials on the front line of the border war and Jan Brewer are not ‘frustrated’ with the broken immigration system alone. They are specifically fed up with the federal government’s refusal to uphold the rule of law.

Furthermore, the “disruption to federal immigration enforcement” Ms. August cites as “counterproductive'”may refer more to the lost potential for adding millions of voters to the rolls for upcoming elections than fixing a ‘broken system.’

Governor Jan Brewer responded that the Judge’s decision was a “temporary stumbling block” in Arizona’s fight to protect its legal citizenry but Representative Darrell Issa R-Calif was more forthcoming:

The federal government has a right and a responsibility to enforce exising laws, but when they fail to meet that responsibility we should not stand in the way of the states that take action to respond to the very real threat of border violence.

Holder’s DOJ continues to place Americans and legal immigrants  at risk by challenging a Governor who has taken an oath of office to uphold the laws of this country. Did they not take the same oath?
