Last night, Sean Hannity interviewed CNS News editor-in-chief Terence Jeffrey on his new book Control Freaks: 7 Ways Liberals Plan to Ruin Your Life. It’s a good interview that skewers the Left’s nanny-state mentality and exposes the phoniness and hypocrisy of their attacks on conservativefascists”:

That phrase “coercing people out of their cars” came right out of the mouth of Ray LaHood, Secretary of the Department of Transportation, a former Republican member of Congress. He was asked if his livability initiative the Obama Administration has, is that a way to force people out of their cars? He said yes. When I started looking into this, Sean, what I found is there’s this coherent ideology, for example, promoted by the Sierra Club and others, where what they’d like to do is use zoning, taxes and regulation to force everybody into urban living environments, where they live in densely-packed housing, within walking and biking distance of a mass transit system […]

The guy who’s sort of the intellectual godfather of Social Security in America, Henry Rogers Seager, a Columbia University economics professor, he actually argued in his book, which was behind the Social Security Administration, posted on the Social Security website now, that Americans shouldn’t save, that if they’re gonna live past 70 they should completely be dependent on government for their income.

The Left usually responds to this line of attack by dismissively asking if conservatives think public roads, fire departments, and such are also socialistic, nanny-state ventures (to which we should simply ask them to ponder the knowledge problem and the difference between public and private goods and call us in the morning). Whoever uploaded the interview to YouTube did so with a description and introductory note that I suspect will be just as common:

Just two “great Americans” sitting around talking about how much they despise half of America.

“Great American” and patriot Sean Hannity and guest show their “love” for their country by accusing half of Americans of ruining it.

Neither Hannity nor Jeffrey is accusing liberals of hating America, but of thinking they know how to run individual Americans’ lives better than they can do for themselves. Further, they clearly take aim at bureaucrats, radical activist groups, politicians, and administrators – not rank-and-file misguided voters.

When you don’t like the answer, stigmatize the act of asking the question. Yawn … can’t the Left come up with anything original anymore?
