FrontPage Editor Jamie Glazov spoke of this compulsive lying in a lecture introducing his work, United in Hate. Speaking of the Russian government’s plans to arrest his father, Yuri Glazov, before his family’s defection, Glazov says:
“An operation was developing where they were going to put documents and drugs into our apartment and my father was going to be arrested for spying and drug-dealing. What’s fascinating and why I’m bringing this up is the psychology of the believer. We have the documents now. We have the document of Yuri Andropov studying my father’s case. Yuri Andropov is discussing the case to put the drugs and the documents into the apartment and then, five pages later, there is discussion of my father as a drug-trafficker and a spy. There is a self intoxication. You create the lie, and then, somewhere along the process, you begin to believe the lie that you, yourself created. This is at the heart of this fantasy, of this totalitarian dream. It’s connected to why the Rosenbergs are innocent, but then when it turns out they’re guilty, you create a justification for it because there are always deeper reasons.”
Leftist Marxism is essentially, a lie. It is the negation of the truth about God, human nature, and the relations of human beings in society. Perpetuating this lie requires the continuous distortion, or suppression of the historical and political evidence that the fantasy does not correspond to what can be grasped by reason and the senses.
The Leftists justify the lies because they must be seen as the eternal victims fighting the Empire, struggling against wealth and power. Every natural human value must be subservient to Utopia. Glazov underlines this profound psychological distortion by which liars actually finish by believing their own lie.
Whittaker Chambers’ Witness and David Horowitz’s Radical Son chronicle the search for identity of those who realized the Marxist world needs lies. Confronted with a truth that destroyed their Leftist view, these men could not live in madness and chose, instead, to subject their intellects to reality, in spite of the agonizing abandonment of Utopia.
J Street and the Left continue to manufacture the lie, compulsively.
