America has never been more polarized. The main catalyst for the current difficulties was the election of a president who has governed farther to the left than any other in history. A sad reality that we Catholics truly must be prepared to face and to rectify, is that the activities of the Catholic Church in America, through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) may be more responsible than any other single organization for helping to bring to power the most pro-abortion president in history.
Even more important is our need to recognize the Church’s role, at least by attrition, in bringing about the current political polarization of America which came as a direct result of that election.
As a practicing Catholic, a Eucharistic convert of nineteen years, it is very difficult for me to be critical of our beloved bishops. At the same time, I understand that it is also my duty to point out serious problems which they must address in order for the Catholic Church in America to thrive. It is with this intention that I write today.
Discover the Networks offers a great deal of information on the role Catholics have played in advancing post-modern leftism of the Alinsky model using community organizing as a mechanism for bringing about social justice. It is a system without which Barack Obama would never have been able to win the election.
