As for Mathangi Arulpragasam, is it just me, or is anyone else here sick of that whole questioning intonation thing…? Especially when it comes with an improper Brit accent…? Just listen to it…? Ok, I’ll stop with the questioning intonation now…?

Not since she addressed the War on Terror with the quote: “You can’t separate the world into two parts like that – good and evil,” has she shown such timidity, or lack of information. The “truff” is, M.I.A. is a graphic-artist and provocateur. But when the provocation is as muted as this interview, then why bother posting the interview? Come on Maya, give us something to bitch about. In case you’d rather not waste a few minutes of your life, here are the highlights of the interview with this pea-brained Brit pop princess now living in a Brentwood, CA bubble.

ON ARIZONA’s IMMIGRATION LAW:

M.I.A.: “It’s interesting, because I just thought… population-wise and stuff there’s space for people here…”
(The moron DJ jumps in at this point)
DJ: “Not to mention that the land was actually Mexican land before.. ha ha ha… the U.S. came in.. Ha ha ha…”
M.I.A.: “I don’t wanna say like f*cked-up sh*t (ooh how provocative), but Obama should just, like step in… (blah, blah, blah)….It’s crazy because actually the immigrants do support this state and are the pillar of it… and actually, I don’t wanna say run it, but…”

ON THE BP OIL SPILL:

DJ: “What do you think of the whole, um, oil spill?… Do you have any opinions on that?”
M.I.A. (after a long pause as she stares blankly up into space, as if being called on to answer a question in class when she didn’t do her required reading): “I don’t know… I feel like… Yeah, I don’t really wanna like… I left my controversial coat at home today…”

Hey, DJ interviewer-dude: Do us a favor and serve a little in-studio coffee to your guests. If the liberal entertainers aren’t even awake, how are they going to have enough energy to call out Obama on the myriad ways he continues to disappoint them. And Mia: it’s time to wake up, literally and politically. Considering you’re 35 now, you really put the “late” in articulate. Maybe I should just wait for the next round in your epic battle with New York Times writer Lynn Hirschberg.
