Zbigniew Brzezinki: Oh My God, Obama is the Second Coming of Jimmy Carter

Michael van der Galien was born in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden in 1984. For as long as he can remember, he has been obsessed with the United States. When he was 17 years old, he started blogging - of course about America. His articles have been published at Big Hollywood, Pajamas Media, Hot Air (the GreenRoom) and Right Across The Atlantic. He's also an editor for the Dutch conservative blog, De Dagelijkse Standaard.

Like so many other ideological leftists who thought that Barack Obama would prove himself to be their very own secular messiah, Carter National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinki is sorely disappointed by the president. Where he once thought Obama could raise ‘the masses’ to new heights by radically transforming society, Brzezinski now realizes that the man who was supposed to be the Left’s savior has already failed miserably.

The situation has become so bad that he now believes Obama is not the second coming of Jesus, but of Jimmy (Carter). Appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe today, the father of co-host Mika said:

I think we’re now going through a phase in which there is a sense of pervasive malaise, which affects different groups in society in different ways. So people are dissatisfied; they’re slightly worried; they don’t see a good certain future for themselves or for the country, but in their own narrow sphere.  There’s no grand mobilizing idea. And I have a sense that Obama, who started so well, and who really captivated people—he captivated me!—has not been able to generate yet some sort of organizing idea for an age which combines a malaise that’s pervasive and percolating, and complexity.. . .

He added: “And the President hasn’t articulated it.”

As Newsbusters‘ Mark Finkelstein correctly points out, “malaise” is “the word that doomed Jimmy Carter.” If more Democrats – and of course a majority of voters – share Brzezinski’s views, Obama can forget about being reelected. It’ll be over and done with for him – and chances are Democrats in Congress may make matters worse by rebelling against him, because they fear for their own careers.

Brzezinski’s remark will not make him popular at the White House. As he put it: “There goes any further invitation to the White House!” Obama and his cronies undoubtedly realize that if he’s considered to be Carter II, he might as well announce today that he won’t run for a second term.

Will, today be remembered as the day when Obama was  kicked to the curb by his own base, because they realized that, far from being their Messiah, Obama will lead their movement to a series of devastating defeats? Considering the amount of respect Brzezinski still enjoys among leftists, I wouldn’t rule it out – far from, even.
