Finally, in addition to her generalities about registration of all illegal immigrants in the country and deportation of all those who refuse, I wish she had offered more specific and practical ideas to deal with the realities of the 12 million illegal immigrants in our population. For example, only after the border is fully secured can we consider something like a carefully crafted temporary guest worker program for a limited number of illegal immigrants already working in the United States whom have not committed any violations of law once here other than their illegal immigration status. And all identified felons should be immediately deported.

O’Reilly was clearly exasperated with Sarah Palin’s generalities, interrupting her frequently.  After Sarah Palin’s appearance, O’Reilly talked with former Bush White House Press Secretary Dana Perino and liberal talk show host Leslie Marshall to discuss the Palin interview. Neither of them added much.

Perino complained about Palin’s generalities but offered no specifics of her own. That may be good enough for a press secretary, but not for a Fox News analyst.

Marshall was even worse in trying to defend the Obama administration’s immigration policies.  Referring to Palin, Marshall said:

Stop defending a disastrous policy that holds border security hostage to achieving amnesty for the 12 million illegal immigrants already here. Work with Arizona to cooperatively enforce the laws already on the books rather than complaining about usurpation of federal responsibilities that this administration refuses to fulfill.

Liberals are on the wrong side of the immigration issue. However, conservatives like Sarah Palin need to offer specific common sense solutions to the immigration problem or they will be dismissed as nay-sayers.
